Our Final Fantasy XI site has paired up with Square Enix to host a special beta recruitment for active XI players. If you still hold a subscription, be sure to enter!!

http://ffxiv.zam.com/story.html?story=21780

Who is picking the winners?

ZAM will be randomly drawing an undisclosed amount of entries and submitting them to Square Enix.

Can I enter more than once?

If you have more than one Square Enix Account, yes, but we are not accepting duplicate entries.

Can I enter both this drawing and the FFXIClopedia one?

We are not comparing entries, so yes, you can enter at both sites and therefore increase your chances, but you will not be able to "win" more than once per SE Account.

Is my POL e-mail the same as my SE Account email?

Unless you set your Square Enix Account to be under your POL email, then no, it is not the same.

What if I made a mistake on my email?

If you made an error, apply again with the correct email.

When will the winners be chosen?

Application ends midnight PST on March 7. We will draw the winners and send the list to Square Enix on Monday, March 8. You will be notified by Square Enix if you were chosen.

When I'm logged in and click "enter now" I briefly see a form and then it disappears. Is this a glitch?

Very cool. Unfortunately I'm not active in FFXI anymore, so I guess I'm out.

Good luck to all who enter though! : )

I have a question about it.
I registered the form for the beta for the UK version (and i have an EU SquareEnix Account as well) but i have an active FF11 USA account. It's possibile to partecipate in this particular situation?

I'm not sure, but I don't think that matters. I think all that matters is you're an active subscriber.

Apped.

One thing I've been worried about is I've never gotten an email from SE regarding anything XIV related despite signing up for the newsletter and the previous beta. So, while it's possible I didn't get into the first volley, I'm still worried mails might not be coming to me for some reason.

Any ETA on when this batch will be sent out, Pikko?

This ends on Sunday at midnight, which is the 7th. I'd guess they'd have to send out invitations at the very least a day or two before the 11th.

This is for alpha, and extends into all phases of beta. I'm sure the first round of beta testers will be subscribers and non-subscribers alike.

Ditto this. I played 11 for over five years and retired because there's nothing left in 11 for me, and won't be until June. I normally hate to be Complainy McWhinerson, but *******...

If I -knew- resubscribing to 11 would definitely get me into the Alpha, I'd even pay the 13 bucks, but I just can't validate paying for a game I won't play for a -chance- to get in on a test for a game I -want- to play.

I'm sure they wouldn't look at your login activity. That would be pretty time/labor intensive on SE's part. I think they'll just look to see if your content ID is active. Possibly for how long?

I'm curious exactly how they know if you do in fact have an active FFXI account. I have a zam account obviously and I have an active POL ID and a SE ID but they're not linked up. Wonder if this would keep me from having a shot at getting in?

Yeah, thank you for the info but I'm not looking to link my SE ID to my POL account. Even if it means I don't have a shot at the beta, I'd just rather not. Wish there was more info so I'd know for sure if I should be hopeful or not =/

All it really is, is that you need to be logged in to this site to enter and from there, you enter your SE Account email. The two aren't linked at all, it's just a matter of getting into the form itself.

Great, played for 5 years, took a break, played again for about 6 months, took a break, then played again for another 6 months and just cancelled my content ID about 2 weeks ago.

Awesome that SE is hooking up with Zam for this...just another reason Zam is the best! I'll reactivate my ID tonight and see if that makes a difference. *crosses fingers*

You don't have to worry, as there doesn't appear to be any kind of confirmation required once you actually receive the Beta E-mail. Just try and sign in with your SE ID when the time comes, and you'll see whether you're in or not.

Really glad we're getting a second chance to get in. I actually want to find bugs and stuff to make the game better. :\

(Apologies for already posting this in =10)

I would love to apply to this, it's a great idea. Unfortunately I had the stupid idea of applying for the testing with a new EU SE account so I wasn't stuck with the NA ties I have with my XI char/SE account (I don't know why I thought that would matter at the time). ><

Now I find out I have to have my NA XI account linked up and it's already linked up to an NA SE account, I can't apply with it(as it would count as a repeat application)...can I?

Pffft they're only doing it so that people who canceled their accounts, because they were bored out of their minds, reactivate them again for more money.

I still don't know if my first BETA application even registered.

When I signed up, it acknowledged it on the site, but I never recieved a confirmation email, and when I recently took part in the Nomad Mog Bonanza, I didn't recieve an email confirming my numbers either.

Just curious if this is a sign that I haven't actually made a valid application, and if there is any way to find out, without comprimising my chances by making "multiple applications"

The email address tied to my SE ID is definitely correct too.

EDIT - Looks like it was a valid application. Unfoutunately, I'm still unable to locate any emails to confirm this, or anything to do with FFXIV, or FFXI for that matter :/

Hmmm... Well this upsets me a bit because it means retired FFXI players, like me, are less likely to get into the beta. I played 3 years from the start of the NA pc version release.

Anyways it's probably a smart move on Square Enix part because long term FFXI players are less likely to leak information. However, information will leak anyways because it only takes one bad apple.

I won’t reactivate my account because there is no guarantee I will get in and I would be paying for FFXI which I don’t want to play again. I will not pay to be a beta tester.

This would have been better if you previously own FFXI you could apply. Not requiring an active subscription and you won't have people paying to be a beta tester.

What a great idea! :)

Myself, I haven't played in about a year, and I have no intentions on re-activating for this alone. However, I think it's a fantastic opportunity for active FFXI players to get a first-crack at FFXIV.

Great job :) Good luck, everyone!

So, I have NA POL account and EU SE account with beta application filled. To link my NA POL account I need to create NA SE account (as SE site says) and fill new beta application form, from the same IP. Will it mean a ban to both application or no?

Hey Pikko,

Think you could change the subject to match up with the title of the home page message? This format had been followed consistently with the FFXI forum and I was just about to create a new post because I couldn't find a post with a matching header. I think this makes it much easier to find the news items to comment on.

By "consistently followed the format" I mean that when a new item is added to the main FFXI page a new post was also created in the FFXI forum with the heading of the announcement used as the subject of the post. (I just checked the FFXI General forum and this has been followed on that forum but not on the FFXIV General.

Also, when will FFXIV branch off into its own set of forums and stop piggy backing off of the FFXI site? I really hope the plan wasn't to merge the two into one huge FFMMO forum...

Additionally, each news item on the home page has a link to add comments. This is redundant and rarely used as everyone goes to the forum posts and comments there. How about making the comment link on the news story just go to the forum post instead of maintaining two locations for comments on each news article? (this last part maybe something that should be posted into the site feedback forum)
