I've seen a few list of late all to do with deciding to group together with servers on FXIV and I thought lets make my own.

1 of the key factors for myself leaving FFXI was I picked the wrong server and didn't know enough ppl from my time zone and had to go online at terrible hours to play the game.

so I've made this post in hope that ppl like me can find the right server to join.

add your name and region your playing in, along with any details u want here so when the server names get announced for FFXIV we can collectively decide to join a particular server to get better party's.

I'll start

Character Name: Manchap
FFXI Server: Titan
Region: UK, Europe
Platform: PS3

I'm gonna buy FFXIV first day release if possible as I work for GAME and get discount :) so i'll be happy to start or join an FFXIV version of a linkshell. as soon as available in-game.

Good idea, although the international servers were an ok idea I think for people who didn't like in the US it kind of failed a bit.

Having to stay up til 4 in the morning for LS events is not something I can do these days.

I think international servers made it so that people with strange work hours could still encounter people to game with. I think the game was, however, mostly dominated by US and Japanese players and therefore the spread wasn't as fair as it should have been, but maybe there will be more world-wide interest this time around.

That's why they invented auto-translate, though I did mention I felt that the game was unbalanced due to the massive amounts of US and Japanese players, as I stated in the very post you quoted.

If you can tell the DRK that he lit his lamp too quick and needs to try again, but on the count of 6 and not 4 this time using AutoTranslate I am massively impressed :)

The system is fantastic for day to day and basic communication but it falls down when you have to relay complex info.

Anyway!

The auto-translate function is/was used generally as a predictive text system more than it did a way of communication with foreigners.

I mean get a 3 english speaking and 3 JP speaking party for a CoP mission would be a nightmare.

I really don't see the need for international servers, its a nice idea and it does kind of work to some extent, but I would sooner share a server with the rest of Europe than the rest of the world.

Every time I think of the current situation in XI I cant quite come to the conclusion if I would rather have an EU server or a worldwide server. There are some benefits to playing in a quiet time on the server-- its alot easier to camp NMs and farm for items thats for sure! Also, I have befriended some great people that I would never have had the chance to on an EU server. I do find it difficult to do anything that involves a group however, and even after playing the game casually for near 5 years I have done very little endgame.

Do I want EU based XIV servers? The arguement is just as tricky! Of course, I cant say anything about the NM/farming system that will or will not be in XIV because I dont know if it will compare at all to XI's. I will however be cut off from my primarily US based LS who, despite the fact that I dont do alot with them, have become good friends.

If I am honest with myself, and continue to play XI anyway, I think I would prefer EU based servers.

...But then again, with a world-wide release date and alot more hype surrounding XIV than XI when it was released, the EU population is likely to be much greater than XIs!

Arrrgh!

Hey guys, the website linked in my signature is a database set up to help you find your friends for FFXIV.

If we keep track of this all at one location we might really have a chance of pairing up with our old chaps for FFXIV.

Good idea. There is a large contingent from my linkshell (full of Brits) that will be trying to land on the same server when XIV goes live.

I'm glad ppl like the idea I'm not trying to make a server were only UK, EU players are allowed.

I agree with u all when saying I'd have never meet as many ppl or does some great things if it was just EU all, I think what we need to do is for the ppl who would like more UK/EU ppl to play with is, to decide before release date or around (if they don't announce the server names) the date is to all pick the same sever.

hopfuly that will make the server have more EU players but still have US or *** players for the times when we feel like going on later.

anyways what I would like is for ppl to keep an eye on this post keep adding to it get other UK/EU players to add to it and just decide a server to all join.

if then we decide we wanna set up a UK LS in game then we can, if not then U there will be more EU players to party with.

if anyone wants to set a website or forum up feel free. :)
