Gotten the EU code? The beta aplication and item code? or just the registration code?

If the item codes and such, what did you do to get the beta aplication and item code? (Aside from registering.)

Sorry, wasn't very specific. I got the Square Enix Members code with the game, registered that and got that same FFXIV special item/Beta email from SE, then did a beta sign-up with it to my old Square Enix Account.

I had the same problems with not getting anyhting, I sugest everyone be patient, Mine took a little over 2 hours to get. Most likely the server is busy cranking out registrations left and right since it is second sales day of the game.

My email took hours to arrive and yes, I'm EU.

This is printed on the application form......PS3 application DOES invalidate PC application................

The game to be tested is under development, and may differ significantly from the commercial release.
* If an applicant applies multiple times, only the final application will be valid.
* Inquiries regarding the selection process and/or its results will not be answered.
* For more details, see the FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Application FAQ here.
* If you have received a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code for registering FINAL FANTASY XIII on the Square Enix Members site, please use it to apply for the beta test.

* If you have already applied for the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta test but would like to apply for the PlayStation 3 beta with a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code, please be aware that all previous applications will be invalidated.

* The promotional code will also be required to obtain the FINAL FANTASY XIV secret in-game item, so please hold on to your code until the game’s official release.

Heads up to you Canadians:

Some copies of XIII don't have the promo code in them- it seems they were removed/lost when they put in the French booklets (lol). So needless to say, check your copy of the game to make sure you have one... and if it's not there, go back to your retailer and exchange it (what I had to do, and just FYI I got mine from an EB).

If you get this on PS3 and have HDTV with HDMI cable on 1080p like what I got, These graphics blow "standard" away. I mean the "normal" gameplay looks better then most other games best cutscenes. The true cutscenes in this game look so good, in certain parts of the fireworks CS, I could swear they used a real person for Snow.

I think you misunderstood. I meant that the graphics were 'standard' comparing it to other new games that are coming out with this generation. Sure they are amazing, but that is what is expected of most games coming out recently. I'm actually glad that the graphics of so many games recently are as great as they are. Maybe we'll be moving back to having games with incredible music, storylines and gameplay.

When I said blows "standard" away, I meant it as all the games already out and all the promise of new games to come that we know of and have info on. As in "this generation".

I don't know about you but personally I haven't seen anything that looks as good as FFXIII coming out anytime soon, other then maybe some other Sqaure Enix games, like possibly FFXIII Versus. If you know of any game that beats Final Fantasy XIII graphics wise coming out this year, please direct me to it. It might be something worth looking into preordering. ^^

Also judging gameplay, storyline, and music are just opinions and preferences. Some people like some types of music while others don't. Same with gameplay and storyline.

Ok, so you really did misunderstand. Generation means the current consoles (PS3 and 360) and the games being released on them. XIII has amazing graphics yes, but it is not blowing away everything on the shelf. MGS4, CoD, Uncharted, Assassins Creed 2 and GT5 are all comparable or better in the graphics category to name just a few. All but GT5 are on the shelves already.

Its all a matter of preference when you're talking about what you like and what you don't like in a game, but if you take away the sound, the storyline and the gameplay then the graphics are all that is left. You completely missed the point.

Would you rather watch a cinematic cutscene all day or play a game with immersive sound and graphics that adds a deep and engaging storyline and mixes it together with interesting and addictive gameplay? SE rarely if ever fails to deliver when it comes to amazing cutscenes in their videogames. What about the rest?

No, I think you are misunderstanding. First off, I own all of those games but GT5 and Uncharted. I know for a fact that none of those games beat FFXIII graphics wise. Now, while they are nice, they still don't compare even close. FFXIII blows them all away. You must have not seen FFXIII properly or are blind. I own a PS3, Xbox360, Wii, two PCs, DS, PSP, and pretty much every main stream console made from 1985 and up. I got 32 PS3 games and 54 Xbox360 games. Probably well over 500 games with all my consoles.

I think that SE nailed it out of the park with FFXIII in all areas. I find most of the people that don't like this game just don't understand FFXIII, haven't given it a fair chance, or personally don't like it for their own reasons. I mean, I believe I read somewhere that you said you haven't even played the game and just had some friends tell you they didn't like it. I find it kind of silly to post on forums saying that Square Enix did a bad job on FFXIII with gameplay, music, and storyline when you haven't even played this game and are bashing this game only because a few other people don't like it.

I do have friends I talk to about games and play games with. They pick this up and tell me its not worth it so I'm not shelling out. Doesn't mean I don't have an opinion or that it might differ from someone else, but when its someone you know and who knows you... you take it a bit more seriously.

Again, you're missing the point. Its not all about the graphics. No, XIII does not blow all of those games away. Better? Perhaps, but not leaps and bounds. There is more to a game than graphics, bottom line.

Learn to read. You quoted me saying that XIII has amazing graphics and then you say I said they did a poor job with graphics. Did I really say that? Does 'amazing graphics' come across as bashing to you? No, I have not played the game yet. I don't plan on buying it so I have to wait til a friend is done with it. I do watch him play so I have seen the game in action. He gives it an 8 out of 10 just fyi. Some other people I know love it, but they know I probably wouldn't.

I can tell from seeing it that the gameplay is pretty linear. You can't go off and progress in the story in different ways. You can't choose who you would like to bring into battle. You pretty much just walk down a tunnel to the end from what I've seen thus far and I don't like that. If this is wrong then please point out how and correct me. It seems like a slightly interactive movie. That doesn't translate into 'SE did a poor job'. It simply means that I probably will not appreciate this game as much as other people would.

Maybe you should learn to read. I never said you said "they did a poor job with graphics." I said: "gameplay, music, and storyline"

But anyway I believe there is no point in going back and forth. The points have been made so, lets leave it at that.

I didn't say they did a bad job with anything. Just not a game for me. I never bashed it maybe with the exception of the names which are horrible. I like to open doors and wonder whats behind them; maybe find something I wasn't expecting. This is not a game for me, point blank.

Yeah. SE always delivers with the graphics. This game falls short in the storyline department. Granted I haven't finished it, it just seems like there isn't all that much between starting and finishing but some very pretty cutscenes. Some people are satisfied with games like that, just not me.

ive seen a lot of messages where people didnt like play online sure it wasnt the best but it was better then a lot of other log on programs ive seen. Did it change over the years to become worse? i played earlier in XI's life span and I actually loved it just for the sheer fact that it played FF3/6 theme music haha

Yeah music was a plus. The problem was for me, 99.99999% I just want to play the game, so please bring me to the main purpose by default, and skip de 'page loading' **** and make your application snappy. We should have launched the game by default and exit to playonline if there was a need to manage content id, etc...

Lightning and Snow? They couldn't have come up with anything better than this? Well at least you get to pick who you play with right? Right???

Someone hasn't touched the game. Lightning isn't her real name. And you do get to pick who you play as.

My only complaint is that Hope is a douche, but what can you do? I kinda-ish like Vanille's personality, but I suppose the voice acting doesn't do it much justice really.

Haha, I thought I was the only one that thought that about Hope.
