When they say the beta site will be open on the 11th, do they mean midnight, the 11th pacific time? or midnight japan time? or 8 in the morning when they get to work japan time?

Just curious.

Whenever they get around to it that day. Most likely. Don't think they're sitting up at midnight JST waiting to enable a website.

They didn't specify. So, whenever they get around to it.

There's not going to be anything amazing I wouldn't think. Just people who received their invites will be able to login and download the client, as well as view any schedules they have finalized for the first testing period.

In an interview a while back, they said that the first phases of testing will be during small time frames and maybe all day on weekends. Though I suppose that may not be what the decided on doing in the end.

Would not bother camping *** midnight. The squre enix support site for ffxiv lists 4 different servers, I think they are germany, england, france and north america. If your going to the server, gonna have to wait til its turned on there, and they run off local time, not japanese.

They will still need to prepare for any overwhelming traffic which may happen. With any new update (even ffxivs main site). New info or anticipation has slowed down and even brought the site to a halt for a few minutes. So i'm guessing that they will try to prepare for this, as well as any errors that may come to be. Alpha and Beta testers will probably use this site vastly as a resource, or bug reporting.

SE will need to be prepared for that =P,

Yes, what you've heard is true. FFXI's endgame is just a giant E-peen swinging contest, with the majority of time spent standing around, and watching Moon-faced nerds "compare" video game "accomplishments" with each other via flame-wars on forums/in-game.
^^^^^^^^^^^^ So True.

I think they will wait until all 3 time zones have entered 11th march.
That means GMT+8 then all the zones have entered march 11th,unless you count Hawaii then it will be GMT+10 but I dont think they will so I still asume GMT+8.
That means in about 11 hours the beta site will go live Oo

Well Logically the Window is:
8am GMT - 3pm GMT
2am EST - 9am EST
Midnight PST - 7am PST

Since it would have to be before JP Midnight, but after PST Midnight from the earlier day. The beta invites went around at about 12noonish GMT so I'm guessing that's probably when the site might go up?

The first wave of alpha invites went out around 5am PST, perhaps it will be a similar time for the beta site opening?
