In phantasy star universe, wasn't it Party V. Party as well? And didn't you go into those zones with specific requirements?

It would be kinda cool to have a similar gameplay to that game with a more Final Fantasy feeling.

Phantasy star universe was a horrific abortion of the Phantasy star series (I loved PSO and was so looking forward to it). I really hope they don't take anything from that game at all, and I'd hardly called it "party vs party" when it was just a bunch of mobs getting stuck in terrain and generally failing miserably at providing any challenge or group mechanics.

I dislike PSU.

ugh, don't even compare the 2, completely, utterly different games.

PSU and PSO are simulated MMO's kinda like guildwars. I don't consider a community town and seperate instance zones for everyone an MMO no matter what way you shake it.

I loooooved pso to death. Played it on the DC offline, loved it. bought a copy for the DC, both copies for the Gamecube and even blue burst for the pc, yes i loved it. However PSU was teeeerrrible. The story that seemed somewhat mysterious and engaging kinda changed. The worlds sucked so bad and other then an incredibly poor crafting system nothing much changed. The mobs really didnt "think" or react to anything, basically you got within aggro range and they walk in a straight line towards you. For pso that was fine it wasn't meant as anything more but yeah... psu totally failed.

Long story short, a community mmo has nothing to do with a "simulated mmo" sorry.

Wasnt PSU the game that a lot of people playing FFXI said they were going to quit for (mostly the buttburt people that for some reason don't stop playing the game even though they apparently have hated everything that has been done with it), and some even said would be the game that defeats FFXI?

I tried a trial of PSU and it was almost entirely filled with people trying to send ******* and cyber with one another. I wouldn't even try to compare FFXIV with PSU.

Sega failed miserably with PSU, the fact that the PSU pc servers close on March 31st has proved that, as said above PSU was horrific, if SE were to use any part of that to design FFXIV, it would be the downfall of the Final Fantasy series.

FFXIV will get content updates at the same time in the US as the rest of the world (see: at all).
FFXIV servers will not be shut down 2 years from now.

End of comparison.

Disclaimer, I played PSU at release for many months, it was fun while they were adding stuff and continually increasing the level cap, but then they stopped adding stuff, and flaws became glaring. I think there have been literally 0 items added in the past year, since the 'expansion' came out. When it went free to play last month, my level 30something alt character could equip the most powerful weapons [level cap is 170], game is broken as ****, I"m glad it's being sent back to whence it came at the end of the month. They mentioned they may be making a real PSO game after this. I look forward to it, but very hesitantly, after how they handled PSU.
