so, stupid question, i know, but...

i heard a few rumors regarding FFXIV and how they may do something with the servers similar to how Guild Wars had "Districts" where all players play on servers that they can jump between actively in game.

has there been any info on this, or is this just wishful thinking?

i know its very unlikely, but it sure would make life a lot easier (limiting the "district" capacity would releave overpopulation of a single "district")

anyway, sorry for the stupid question ^_^

It would be interesting, is that similar to Champions Online because I never played Guild Wars. Another thing I found interesting is the surname. If they did go about servers in that way, people could use the same first name and be distinguished by their last name. I know a couple MMOs were like that and Champions allowed Duplicate names. I forget exactly how it was all set up, I only fooled around in it's beta.

not sure. I remember in one of the interviews they said that they were trying to figure out a way to let friends from ffxi play together in ffxiv, but I think they were referencing the character creation portion of the game, so it wouldn't include switching once you already have your server. I could be wrong.

Last I heard they hadn't decided on anything yet but that was a couple months ago. From what they were saying you could tell they were leaning away from this sort of thing. And I hope they never do it. I find the micro servers or bubble servers or whatever you want to call them, quite horrid.
