Housing system...Follow

Everything right now is about speculation... But has a housing system been mentioned? I think they should make a way better system, in which friends would be able to enter, hang inside, make reunions, etc.

Of course that it could be attained after a certain level.

Maybe even guildhouses for LSs. After the LS attaining a certain LSLevel, being able to have a guildhouse for reunions and such.

What you guys have heard about this? Any ideas?
Or what would you love to see in the housing system?

(edit: signature was messed up)

i want them to retain the aspects of the FFXI mog house, being able to move furniture, etc

but i would like some more interactivity.

some ideas:

an aquarium where you can place any type of small/medium fish you catch through Fishing, being able to feed them and win some type of contest.

adjustable lighting, customizable wallpaper / wall colors. maybe even a chance to purchase a second floor / basement addition.

furniture / apparatuses that enable the player and/or guests to play simple minigames in the style of FF such as tetra master

I would love to see housing and even more guildhouses that can be linked to your house.

The only tidbit of info I can recall regarding housing in FFXIV was the idea by Hiromichi Tanaka (I think it was him) who wanted to make it so that players are able to exit into Vana'diel or Eorzea from the mog house. The concept proved too difficult to implement but one can assume based on the mentioning of the mog house that the housing system will remain similar.

I wouldn't want mog houses to become too functional or fancy. If everyone spent lots of time in their houses or instanced LS towns there would be few people out in the public square.

If they have something similar to Mog Houses again, I would be very happy. I know a lot of people, including me, who used the area to have some time to themselves. I also found watching the Moogle while listening to the background music quite relaxing.

The only thing that stopped me from putting a lot of furniture in it was that it took up a lot of room in your safe. I never bought furniture for the extra storage slots, so it would have been more convenient if the furniture didn't take up any slots. But if they did that, it wouldn't be fair that equipped weapons/armor took up slots as well, and I heard that was because it would cause problems with job changing. Hopefully there will be a different approach to this in FFXIV, though.

As for linkshell housing, I'm not so fussed about having it. Personally, I loved meeting up in a public place and hanging out. It felt like we weren't an exclusive little circle that only invited the best players to join us.

I would love to see player housing brought back myself. The only real change I would hope for is that they remove the blocks of where items can be placed much like in Vanguard where it lets you place your furnishings anywhere, even rotate them on X and Y axis. I was one of the ones who spent a lot of time decorating my mog house so I hope there is a wide range of things that we can place inside.

Another good idea could be taken from LOTRO where some bosses give you trophy items to place in your house. While most games do not focus much on player housing, its still something a lot of people scream for on various forums for most games that do have it, yet there are few changes ever made once its finalized aside maybe storage space increases like in FFXI. The reason for that is dev budget, and how much does this enhance content. Typically it gets pushed to the back burner over time and is forgotten.

So here's to hoping they do a better job then other games at the release.

if you are talking about the moghouse in FFXIV, I would like to have a house with more rooms, a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. Maybe a system where you could move walls around to design your own house.

It's not going to happen, but one can dream, can't I ?

Well I doubt there will be any kind of extensive housing system when the game is first released unless they go with the similar mog house system from XI. They'd be more focused on the other aspects of the game for the initial release. Down the road though I would like to see more customization options for the appearance of the houses. I like the trophy idea from bosses like they did in LOTRO for added furniture but also allow you to change around aspects of the house that were "fixed" in XI according to which nation you were currently in.

I just don't want to live in a box. I hope they at least have multiple layout that you can choose from. And yes, WAY more storage space that you don't have to buy.

If they DO have a house system I'd like to see one implemented that had multiple types of houses. You would start with none. You'd be living in the barracks of your chosen starting city. When you have the cash you goto the housing district. Which would have a multitude of houses in it. Not just a zone point like in FF where people just disappeared. Not a house for every person that is in the game, but rather maybe 10-15 houses in the area each with a different size, shape and value associated with it. All the players who bought the cheap house would goto that one and be ported to the inside from the front door...etc.

What I worry about though is the layout of the cities. Every MMO seems to suffer from this but there are always hot spots with large clusters of people in them and spots that are completely devoid of life.(as artificial as it may be) I can't think of anything to put near the houses that would keep the hustle and bustle of activity near them that would really make you feel part of this world.

You'd basically need an auction house and activities that would require you to purchase from the house. Which is why there were popular AHs in every city. It was the AH closest to all the crafting.

and you'd preferred the seemingly empty at first but gradually loading congested sea of bodies that was lower jeuno? if mog houses were able to direct more traffic away from the lag zones that'd be a plus in my book!

the idea of a busy city is nice, but only when our technology is able to handle it adequately. lower jeuno was a constantly loading area, and once the bodies appeared.. it was time for collision detection mode!

Would it be too much to ask that I be allowed to sit in my chairs and climb into bed when I log out... ;}

Windows and an outdoor area would be nice. That way the interior would look different based on the time of day.

I would guess the moghouse would be similar though I hope its more extensive. One room is fine, but just have more customization in it and make available to friends. I like the idea of linkshell guild houses where your actual room would be inside the guild house but I don't think they'd implement that. What I do see is furniture, wallpaper, maybe different house layouts would be something that could be purchased from that microtransaction shop if they still do it.

I know this will never happen, but the housing system in EQ2 was really cool. I'd love to see it in XIV.

Players houses were right in the main cities, set up as "apartments". At least in construction. Each apartment door was a zone to an instance which was each players house (if they purchased that house).

Actually it's a lot the same as the moghouse XI system. There were just much more house zones per city area, and different styles/costs. Guild houses were practically castles, which was awesome, but expensive as ****.

As long as they don't make instanced towns like in Lord of the Rings Online, I'm happy. Instanced town = ghost town not connected to the real game world.

Well I really hope they have some system to show all your achievements as i loved it in wow.
But they went a bit to far imo.
Just a simple system with trophies and that sort of things would be fun to show in your moghouse.

You beat me to it.

My character can sleep outside for all I care. The only time I plan to be in a town is when I'm getting a new Guildleve and/or selling stuff.

The one thing I hope for it to show my house off. It always kinda bothered me that I had all this cool stuff in my MH, like my airship model and such, that I could never show to anyone. I think it would be cool just to be able to take a LS mate into your house. No reason to make a house look cool if no one else is gonna see it, no reason not to line the whole room with wall to wall storage items, regardless of the appearance, lol.

Then by all means don't use it if it was introduced. But personally i'd like to have a room at the very least where I can gather various sh*t I get in my adventuring. The option should be there for those who would want to use it, if you don't want to use it....then don't.
