Has anyone seen any information at all about the ability to Charm creatures ?

Charming has always been my favorite spell/ability in MMO like FF or EQ, so it is something i have seen nothing about so i am curious as to what the general public may have heard ?

All we know so far is that they don't plan on having pet classes as of yet.

By all means someone correct if i'm wrong, but I somewhat recall an interview when asked about pet classes they replied they don't plan on having them initially, but that it might be something they add later on. Whether or not they keep to that is up in the air, but I wouldn't dismiss all hope yet.

I don't want pet classes simply because most games have done a poor job of balancing pets in the past.

Pet jobs in XI were red-headed stepchildren pretty much 100% of the time. Puppetmaster? Dragoon? Yeah. Summoner had it's niche uses, but was usually a huge let-down each patch.

And don't even get me started on Beastmaster. Despite being the most fun experience I ever had in XI, it was also by far the most frustrating since I never got to actually enjoy it for what it was.

Well I think SE are missing a trick with having no pets in FFxiv from the beginning ( if that is ineed the case), regardles of whether you like or dislike the idea in itself you must admit that it would look very popular and attract lots of people to the game at the start just from an aesthetic view.
Then again maybe they tried it and it gave them such a headache they decided against it until they got it right, and I'm sure we would all prefer a system that actually worked as opposed to one thats just there for the looks.
I am still dissapointed there will be no furry fwends tho :(

I thought it was pretty odd that they didnt have any pet classes yet ether. But there is still plenty of time for one to show up. I am sure we will see a few more mage classes as well.

I think the important bit to remember with pet jobs is the system they are using in FFXIV (as in no levels). Usually you can balance out Pets by adjusting them down to your level. I guess the game could simply do that with skill level, but for the start it could be quite a headache to integrate.

Not saying that is why it is happening, but I definitely feel like the idea of a level-less game is going to make adding new jobs, new abilities, and pets a bit more of a to-do than usual.

There is an in game system for indicating the relative strength of your party to that of the one you are fighting, it's a red dot of varying strength ( maybe it changes colour too idk ),
couldn't that same mechanism be used to determine the strength that ones pet should be at relative to your character also?
