City-States and races/tribes. Facts & speculations.Follow

OK, so i was checking the new imformation regarding tribes and then i watched the new video SE showed this day and i was thinking about the native city-states of the different races/tribes we have seen.

First of all, I want to notice that the city shown in that video is Limsa Lominsa, and it looks almost the same as Bastok, wich is kindda lame. If we're getting the same races, at least i expect some differences in the game art/design. But well, I still think this game is going to be awsome.

Now, Using the information shown in the last JP site update regarding to tribes, and the info shown in the NA site about races, i came to the next conclusion:

1.Foresters Elezen are native from Gridania.
2.Seewolf Roegadyn are native from Limsa Lominsa.

I think we can take this for granted. Now regarding the others, there´s still speculation, mainly because we don´t have more information about the other city-states, except for the concept art shown in the NA site. So, this is my speculation:

1.Loehngarde Roegadyn are native from Ul´Dah
2.Highlanders Hyur are natrive from Ul´Dah.

I cannot find a clear path regarding the rest, specially Miqo´te. We just know that there are 2 tribes, and both of them are more efficient in different times of a 24 hr day (Sun Seekers at day, Moon Keepers at night). Moreover, the "Dark" Elezen are supposed to be buglars that live in caves..... The only thing I can speculate is that, and according to the information shown in the NA site/story section), perhaps there will be 6 cities, not just 3, making even possible that Higlander Hyur have Ala Migho as a starting city.

Of course, this "hipotesis" works under the condition that SE follows the path shown in FFXI (and most of MMORPG's) that each race is native of a specific city.

If i missed some info, please feel free to point it out.

PS. I must admit english is not my native language, so i apologize for any grammar/spelling error.

I can't remember, have they said that that while specific tribes are "native" to a particular city-state, that you can still start anywhere? I wouldn't really like it that way as it would remove a lot of the true fantasy feel of the game, but at the same time, it was kind of rough on some races in EverQuest. IIRC, Erudites had to start on an island surrounded by a forest that got really dark at night, which was horrible since Erudites couldn't see well at night.

I hope races/tribes start in their villages nearby to a particular city. I think that would make things more interesting that you would get a feel about how your tribe lives and its relations to the outside world.

Some of the translated information hinted towards different clans coming from different places. I'm not sure if this will effect the game or if it's just something we know but don't really experience.

The Lalafel Dunesfolk are a nomadic herding people, living in the sandy desertlands of Eorzea. Their eyes are peculiarly glasslike, with a film obscuring the pupil. Most Dunesfolk affix a jewel to their brow.

The Plainsfolk of the Lalafel have flaxen hair, resembling the plants ofthe field. They live in thatched dwellings, and are noted for their goodhearing. Even faint footsteps can’t escape their large ears.

Well it would seem the duskwight (now called shader) don't like Hyur and they also live in caves, so not in the 3 main cities at all, but maybe "nearby" or on the outskirts OR in subterranean caverns under a city.
Lalafell dunesfolk don't seem to live in a city either but in some desert area and are at least semi-nomadic so may not begin in one of the 3 main cities either.
Really thats only 2 other possible starter locations from what I can gather, of course there could easily be many more and indeed I hope there are.

Ul'dah is surrounded by desert isnt it? The dunesfolk might live outside possibly.

I don't remember seeing that, but yeah maybe and if so perhaps there are several clan based starter areas near the 3 main cities and you have to travel to them from some village as in "that other MMO"?
So 3 main cities, each clan has its own unique starter area within easy reach of a particular city.

What makes you think you actually start in a main city? SE haven't say anything about it as far as i know. What if depending on the tribe of your choice the starting place will be somewhere else? Maybe a small town/village and as you level up you end up meeting with the other tribes in one of the 3 main cities? I don't know, no one knows :P. Let's just wait and see :D. Alpha is around the corner yey!!!

I thought one way it might happen is everyone has there own starting area. Then from there everyone gets funneled into there big city for each race then from there. Everyone gets pushed towards the main city of the world.(there is always one major hub in every MMO rather they make one or not it just naturally happens) Maybe jeuno will be the main hang out agian. Who knows? But I imagine it will prolly lay out something like that.

I dunno where you got Highlanders being from Ul'Dah. It says they are from Ala Mihgo, if I'm not mistaken from previous information that city is suppose to be in the northern territories. I also remember them saying something about a "northern" city, maybe they'll be from there? Them being from Ul'Dah doesn't quite make sense though. Also, I think it's quite apparent by not only their name but their description that Dunesfolk Lalafell are from the desert (Ul'Dah).

i really really really hope they dont force you to start in a specific area just because of the race/clan you choose. remember people are spread all around and intermingle. theres no reason a dunefolk wouldnt move to gridania because they wanted to. just like the shader. one could live in that seaport because he chose not to live a life as a thief.

also remember that all the characters we play would be adventurers who going through the world, so we would be found everywhere.

In FFXI you could start anywhere but if you chose your race specific city you were given a ring with stat boost that would enhance the stats that were already boosted for your race. I would like to see a similar situation where you could start anywhere but if you started at the city your race was intended then you get a small reward.

I bet there will be more than 3 starting cities and probably a couple of major hubs and we will see an even bigger world than FFXI. Atleast that is what I am hoping for.

My idea was more like this: Shaders live in caves, therefore, there should be more than 3 city-states, because none of the current shows a cave-ish style (maybe Gridania, but still looks more like a forest than a cave). By that i don´t mean, however, that if you chose being a Seewolf Roegadyn you'll only be able to start in Limsa Lominsa. Just as in FFXI, Humes and Galkas were natives of Bastok, but at the same time players could be "born" as a Galka in Windurst.

Good point.

At this point we can´t tell what advantage we'll get (if any) because we don´t know if the cities shown are the main starting cities or, as Irspellxxornab pointed out, there are small independent cities where the players actually start.

The only thing i would call pretty certain, is that Seewolves Roegadyn will be "native" from Limsa Lominsa and Foresters Elezen from Gridania.
