I would like to see SE add minigames to the mix. It would give an alternative to leveling, questing, crafting, or doing missions.

I believe it will have a "minigame" feel when it comes to crafting. Who knows......would make crafting much more interesting

Gee I know so many people who spend every hour of playing time just crafting. Making crafting more enjoyable would be the bees knees for those folks. ^_^

I think if they added in something like tetra master? I think it was called into the actually MMO would be a pretty neat little side thing for people to do while you are waiting around for whatever.

They could have monthly tournaments in taverns throughout Erozea and the winners get the choice of specific event type items, come on SE you know you want to. XD

Cards that drop off mobs would be awesome also, espcially rare NM cards.

i was never interested in playing tetramaster, i didnt even bother looking at it.

but adding mini games in FFXIV will be great.
for example they could make tetramaster inside FFXI, you can buy the "collectible cards" from vendor, and you go hunt the ten of clubs/robots thing to get the other cards and then start the mini game with other adventurers.

or adding minigames only during the festivals/events, like you see lots of game counters when there is a fair or something.
minigames could be like, kabobs eating contest, you compete with up to 5 ppl at the same time, ... u get the idea

or a marathon, u have to run naked, nothing equipped, run from limsa lominsa to Ul'dah, no transportation nor any abilities can be used nor spells can be casted, just pure running. but then everyone runs in the same speed, how can you win? by knowing the short cut and knowing your way. there will be chests on the way, u can open and use "items".. like you bind the person u see in sight, instant flee, dig a hole and set a trap on the ground to get the person behind you, you blind the lead runner so his screen goes black.... ok you get the point, it's just like Mario kart lol, but then im not including monsters attack, that will make high "level" doesnt have the advantages

or put us in a dungeon, split into two teams where we will have to find 5 flags of our team's color first to win.

Call me old school, or what ever you want, but I wouldn't really be satisfied with mini-games unless we get a full-blown Gold Saucer type thing. dozens of mini-games, SNOWBOARDING, submarine games, idc if it doesn't make too much sense!
Just give me something like an arcade where i can pop a few gil into a machine and use a crane to get a **** chocobo plushie.

Also, real chocobo racing please! I wanna dust my friends on chocoback, not have some hack npc that doesn't know how to race. I never understood why you had to train your choco (receptivity and discernment) on how to manage its stamina and speed, that's the jockey's job for pete's sake.

lol I think I rated up almost everyone in this thread. Minigames ftw!

I would love crafting to be minigame-like, I would love tetramaster type minigames with hard to get NM cards etc, real chocobo racing? Yes please! Not to mention the plethora of other minigames that haven't even made it to the FF series yet, but could be awesome fun.

I'd like it to give some small reward, that has some limited use just to make it a bit more interesting, but if that is out of the question. Well, bring the minigames on anyway!

Wait... people played tetra master?

Okay just kidding i never tried it, card games are cool but playonline was brutal and i either wanted to be ingame FFXI or not. Yes i also hated the extra fee for it too, what a shady way to make an extra $.

If the new minigames can be ingame, contribute in some non-economy way like pets or things just like WoW's fishing tourny etc. Then i will be very happy.

Minigames need to not affect the main game but not be outside the game so no one plays them.

Tetra Master was fun (I preferred FF8's version, ironically), but nobody really played it because it was a separate entity. If they put TM in place of Venture Roll, for example, I think it would garner more popularity.

Along the topic of minigames, I wouldn't mind seasonal and holiday events being more immersive and interactive. Not that the ones in XI weren't fun, but just add more. Really make use of the word "Festival."

Yes they did mention mini games in a recent interview!!! I'm surprised you were the first to bring it up though, because I got really excited when I saw that...no more sitting in town for hours waiting :)

Crafting tournaments would be fun too. Craft X amount of pieces in Y time.

also, they've mentioned chocobos will be in the game but not for transportation....with minigames and chocobos racing seems like a high possibility.

If they wanted to supply the materials sure, otherwise, it would be a huge gold sink with no real "reward"

Yeah... and hopefully if they implement guild points in FFXIV the points given out will be worth the trouble of making the item. Some of those things required 8 ingredients, some expensive or hard to get yourself, and they gave you some really low points for all the trouble it took to get them together.

That's not realy true, the minigames for crafting in Vanguard was all kinds of fun, let you make the item you wanted with plenty of skill gain oppertunities. It still reqiured matterials, sometimes rare ones if you wanted to reforge your sword to make it better, but it was far from unrewarding.

Tetra Master was fun, but the rules were badly obscured in the game, making it inaccessible to players.

But I would vastly prefer a trading card type game where you build a big, strategic deck, i.e., Magic, Pokemon, that card game in Xenosaga (something with some metagame elements). Tetra Master is a fairly flat card game by comparison.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Tetra Master would be cool as long as it had no direct effect on gameplay. I'd probably play it instead of idling and browsing forums.

I think they definitely need to off more social activities this time around. I can just imagine walking into a bar in some town in the game and making new friends by sitting down and playing some sort of card game with them. Triple triad anyone?!

A huge sporting event like blitzball would be really cool too. I'd definitely participate in that.

I have always wanted this if FFXI. Imagine just being able to knock off a few hands of TM while waiting for a party or whatever?
