In the newest dev interview, which was posted two days ago so i suppose i'm late, they mentioned crafting guildleves and skills to make crafting more fun. YES! For some reason I had envisioned respending all the time I spent in XI leveling my crafts boringly. This be much better, argghhh.

Crafting disciplines can also be used in combat! I knew they would improve crafting but they really went all out and I love all of the info we're getting. I truly look forward to being a blacksmith in XIV.

I wonder what the crafting guildleves will be like. I could imagine normal crafting quests to be similar to doing errands for a crafting guild, but I don't think guildleve quests could do that. I'm getting the impression that guildleve quests aren't going to be really connected to the main world. Much like the quests that could be done in Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. There probably will be crafting guildleves where you'll have to do something like chop some wood and make as many bookshelves as you can in 5 min. That sounds pretty lame to me, but I never was much of a crafter >_<

What about make me a table using some special materials only found in this dungeon filled with a bunch of nasty monsters that you might want to take some help in defeating. Do this for me and I will pay you a mighty... 2 gil. >.>;

It'll probably be along the lines of "In order to make this really pretty and stylish hat, I need the pelt of the rare and vicious cave rat. They're over there, right by the entrance of the cave right outside town. Yeah, that one. Sharp teeth, yaknow. Watch it. Help? Yeah, bring help if you want..."

Then you bring back the pelt, and the guy tells you to top it off, you need the feather off that giant rooster HNM wandering the desert half a world away that only comes out for ten minutes when the moon is crossing out of Virgo and into Capricorn. Or something.

And as a weaver (which is what I'm interested in), I'm hoping you can spit poison needles at enemies or something. That, or bash them over the head with a loom.

Hmmmmm so maybe the crafting guildleves will require crafters and fighters

HAH! I too am interested in weaving again, and was slightly perplexed at how our materials might be used as weapons.. with blacksmiths and such it seems rather obvious. Perhaps scissor-stabbity action? :/

Wouldn't it be fun if cooks could bash mobs over the head with frying-pans ala princess peach?

Princess Peach! Made me LOL.

I never tried crafting in XI. I'm very interested in trying Alchemy in FFXIV. I think it would be awesome if craters could directly affect armor and weapons. I've been saying this for a couple months now. For instance, I think if you are a weaver you should be able to add different element resists to armor. As an alchemist you should be able to put silence or poison onto weapons.

It would make crafters sought after by parties. Especially if the effects can be changed between battles.

"ok we aren't fighting ______s anymore. Instead we're gonna take on ________s they're weak to fire. Can you change up the effects on our weapons?"
