Is it wrong to hope that mobs and players will have the same zone mapping?

While the above examples aren't horrible, I hate it when they scale a wall and start interacting on another level.

This is why they're doing such extensive testing and I thank them for it. Here's hoping the majority of the players who make it into the beta understand that it IS a beta and not a demo.

Agreed. If I was to get into beta, I would make sure mob pathing was working as intended.....so much trouble with it in other MMOs

Was pathing the word I was looking for? Mapping didn't seem right. Or was it?

Agreed, I always loved when the mob I was hunting was in a tree or stuck to a rock. meh.

I understand that even when beta testing is done things slip through the cracks but anyone who's played Modern Warfare 2 can tell you what a game is like when they skip the beta testing phase altogether.

If you havn't played it I can sum it up for you in one word, catastrophic.

But yeah I'm sure we will see a lot less issues like this one and others because of the huge amount of testing that's going to take place. I really hope I get to be a part of it.

The alpha / beta testers are effectively forging the world we will all be adventuring in for years to come.

Agreed, I always loved when the mob I was hunting was in a tree or stuck to a rock. meh.


What really fried my *** was when you were partying, and the mob would go after someone else, and just hop up a little cliff, and I would have to take a 30 foot detour to get back to it.

mobs getting into these situations is quite silly, i agree.. but if they didn't have a much more powerful range of movement than the player, some of them could easily fall to exploitation or glitch out and despawn even if you're legit. you can't have a perfect ending either way, but at the very least Square tries to lessen the amount of headaches.
