First I'm going to give my take on the jobs and then say what I'd like to see in addition. I'll be talking mostly in FFXI terms.

Lancer - It feels like SE is combining DRG (from the weapon), SAM (from the TP manipulation), THF (from the enmity control), and BRD (from the party boosts) on this one. This seems more like a captain or WarLeader type class to me.
Archer - Obviously from RNG
Gladiator - Obviously from PLD
Marauder - Combo between DRK and WAR. Just start swinging your weapon and things start dying.
Pugilist - Combo between MNK (Fighting Style) and THF (Steal). Possibly this class includes a NIN tanking style from the enmity control and evasion abilities.
Conjurer - Obviously the traditional WHM, RDM, BLM.
Thaumaturge - This looks like a combo BLM and DRK which is geared more for a darker and EMO playstyle.

What would I like to see?
Swashbuckler - Maybe a combo between RDM and COR. I got my epee in one hand and my gun in the other all underneath my cool hat!
Entertainer - Combo between BRD and DNC. This is your song and dance specialist. But it would probably need a spiffier name.
Druid - Or call it geomancer, but some job with a nature focus for spellcasting and shapeshifting. (Although I don't think Final Fantasy has done a shapeshifting type job before)

They already have the Alchemist, which they haven't really released any info as far as how they will act in battle. It is a crafting disciple but may work how how a Chemist did in FFT.

I like the idea of a battle mage debuffer, like a Red Mage / Dancer hybrid, but without the dancing. ;)

So the job can debuff like a Red Mage but would use "touch" spells like Dancer.

Attacking with his sword, cast a quick spell (quicker than other mages as he's in battle) to enchant the blade with a debuff spell. With a cool animation like conjuring a ball of magic in his hand and wiping his sword with it. Then stab the enemy, inflicting the debuff.

Also, with a similar spell and animation, be able to use en-spells.

Taking the focus off healing and support compared to the Red Mage we are used to, as these would be better dealt with by other back-line mage jobs. The battle mage would be more about melee and debuffs and exploiting elemental weaknesses. (kind of like what Ninja was supposed to be, really).

Time Mage? Pretty please?

Would it be historian? Or maybe Physicist...

I'm not sure if this falls into future discplines, but atleast future specializations.

I realize they are trying for a more heterogenous approach (one job, 34645346 roles!) but, I like the classic roles. Ie: specialized PLD or atleast 'holy' warrior spells, etc.

It could be done in a neat way, to preserve the multi-role approach. Maybe, more spells like holy, with an increased effectiveness? Maybe a more involved party buff mode, in the genre of a Dragon age champion (can increase PT ATK, Def and stun opponents)

In short: Give me a PLD, with added party support abillities.

I think that the pet classes would fall under a different Discipline altogether.

~Discipline of Heart(sounds fitting, for now)

-Summoner
-Puppeteer
-Tamer
-Bard
-Dancer

Bard and Dancer classes aren't really pet classes, I know, but I don't really think they'd fit into the other Disciplines.

I'd also like to point out that gunsmithing was mentioned on the official website, under the blacksmith's class description. We'll probably see rise to a gunner class, eventually.

I doubt we are going to see any of the above classes actually in FFXIV, NAME WISE (key point).

You will more than likely have the buffs from Bard and the debuffs from Dancer (think FFT) rolled up into something like the Mystic infused with the Orator in FFTactics. So take those 4 FFT classes and roll them into one and that will probably be one of the DoM classes at or soon after launch.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dancer again, as long as it's not useless like it is in XI.
Give them their abilities from Tactics, and watch the amazingness.

I wouldn't mind seeing a PUP job, it's very well done in XI (perhaps one of the most complete jobs in XI from a practical stand point) Just please please please give them more gear choices in XIV :P

Time Mage / Green Mage would be amazing.

Though honestly i'm hoping for the following:

Ninja not to be a tank class, but rather a debuffer / ranged damage class like SE originally intended. (DoW)
Bard to come back with minimal work done to it, because i love the class :3 (DoL, DoM)
