I want to play a symphony in the middle of these battles once more...but I want to do it differently.

I was thinking they could have a harp that inflicts ranged in Final Fantasy 5...but the damage would have status effects like sleep or mesmerize. I definitely want to see BRD being brought back but I don't want to run back and forth playing a song.
They appeared from the sky, the one without a heart... "Omega"...And the one who followed it..."Shinryuu"...

I love bards! I hope to see them in FFXIV as well. Hopefully the instruments will be a little more variable. I would like it if I could actually pick a singing voice for my character, for example, or compose the music for my various abilities (like a mini game).

What would rock is if I had to play notes well, in time, and in a certain order, during combat in order for my spell/ability to go off correctly or at it's max capability. That would involve a lot of RL skill and I like that.

Yeah I hope to see a bard type class come to this game! They were always so helpful in different situations. Sometimes they had to heal a little, other times it was straight mages ballad and the atk+ and acc+, and once in awhile you would see some with a joytoy fighting. Even though I never really played one, I do hope they make a return and are just as helpful or even more!

Based on the information given on the official site about conjurers they seem to be doing a lot of what a BRD would.

Bards are essential to FF. I have the flute tune from FFXI burned in my brain. Its never going away. >_<

Id like to see bards return , along with corsairs bards imo were one of the most unique and cool classes.
Im just a bit worried atm with the class system theyre going to implement, I understand what theyre trying to do and hopefully it works, but the huge amount of interesting and unique classes was my fave thing about ff11.

Im not so sure people are really going to invent new names for class combinations and configurations.... and even if they do its not as if your custom class has a story or unique AF set.
I know it seems trivial, especially with all the possibilities the new system might bring... but the large amount of classes and thier unique story and AF appealed to me..

And with no ninja, thf or brd or equivlant it just takes away a lot of the flavor for me.

As long as they dont make the flop they did in XI, and their classes get twisted into something it was never meant to be (I'd love to see NIN as they intended it, not some demonic shadow of itself that tanks)

I'm hoping they've better balanced classes as well, so if there's a subjob, there's not /NIN mania like there is now.

as for Bard, (|Yes please.|)

I liked bard too. Before the end of things I think I played bard for endgame than any other 4 jobs that I had(can you believe that...) But it was fun. I just hope they don't combine it with dancer, it's already fairylike enough.

I honestly wouldn't mind a Square-Enix take on the Minstrel class from LotRO -- just take away the "healer priority" tag on it. Much like the instruments in FFXI, each had bonus effects, but the buff system was based around short term buffs built on tiers, and all buffs were derived from doing damage to the mobs.

It's been a few years, but the general feel of the class was:

All tier 1 songs did decent light damage and gave a minor buff.

Tier 2 songs required X number of Tier 1 effects to be active, and grant a fairly decent buff as well as good light damage. The ability to use tier 2 songs was then "de-activated" until enough Tier 1 were opened again.

Tier 3 songs required Y number of Tier 2 effects to be active, did either major damage with fairly potent buff, or no damage and a dramatic buff or effect.

I don't want it to be the same, but a hybrid of both classes would be nice. The whole "sonic damage" aspect of Bard could have been put more into effect than just the Foe Requiems.
