Hello everyone. I'm new to these boards and the whole "FF MMORPG" scene but find myself unusually excited about the kind of game that FFXIV appears to be turning into.

I noticed that there is a strong "anti-recruit" message being sent from this community and I certainly can appreciate that. I'm hoping that the following does not go against this; I have no interest in "recruiting" so much as finding people with a similar interest. I see this thread as a parallel to (http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?game=268&mid=127049020565592784&num=72&page=1) which appears to be fairly accepted as "okay".

Because I am new to this scene, I would really love to find people with a common gaming interest to enter the FFXIV world; whether that be as a guild (linkshell?), community, or simply bunch of "online pals". One thing in particular that I have always enjoyed in games is actually building a community/group with others to expand and play with; these ties usually last longer than the average "gamer acquaintanceship". I'm happy to join any pre-existing group or work on something "fresh".

So real quick, here are some things I value:
People primarily 18+ or mature enough to fool others if younger who play during evening hours (5:00pm-12:00am EST/CST)
A friendly, open-minded, group with an interest in whatever game "progression" is offered.
A group where leadership sticks to ideals and holds members accountable. However, ideally a group would be casual/hardcore in which people understand that sometimes life takes precedence but people enjoy a game enough to play regularly.
People who actually enjoy the company of other people in a game.

If you have a group or may have an interest in putting something together with me, please contact me on these boards or leave a reply message and I will contact you.

Also, if this posting is in fact violating a forum policy and/or is too "close to the line", you have my sincere apologies and I will remove this thread myself.

It's not an anti-recruitment sentiment, per se. Pikko (one of the admins) stated that people with low post counts who make recruitment threads will generally have said thread nuked. I believe her comment was she wants people to be part of our community before they start taking people from it.

That being said, you already posted a link to kimutako's post, and that community seems to be growing. Also, one of my friends and I are planning a social linkshell/guild/whatever they call it. The link to mine is in my sig if you want to check it out, but it's only a Proboards site with a few members at the moment.

A couple of people seemed interested in starting something up or simply getting to know some people that we might want to end up "rolling" with. I am available via a number of messenger contacts so if you would like to talk about something like this, send a message with some contact info. I'll get in touch with you asap.

A real quick update. Currently there are 3 of us ready to start planning. A fourth would meet what we think is a solid number so if you're interested shoot me a private message. Thanks.

While I'll be looking for adult, casual, and social linkshell that plans on doing all of the end-game content, I won't be looking for one until close to launch. There will undoubtedly be many linkshells (or whatever they're gonna be called) at launch time, so it seems premature to me to tie myself to one when the game won't be launching for probably half a year. But that's just me... others might want a linkshell-equivalent group this week. To each his own. :)

Good luck with your search. The good thing is you have a lot of time to find what you're looking for.

Hey goo, thanks for the wishes. I hope you find what you are looking for come release. To be honest, I think the biggest part of this kind of search is to find people with a common interest who want to take the time to get to know a group and feel confident in what they are "getting themselves into" before the release of the game rather than going it alone when they start. There have been plenty of discussions taking place about "the good vs bad" of starting up a group so ridiculously early; my hope is that the benefits of becoming a stable group prior to release make it worth the effort now.
