I've recently built a new computer so I've been upgrading a few beta applications with my new rig. I tried to find where to update the FFXIV beta application for a bit but couldn't find it. I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has already gone through my situation and found how to update the application or otherwise found you can't. So...anyone know?

You can't update it. As long as your old PC met the requirements to run FFXIV it shouldn't make a difference. There's still some uncertainty as to whether or not filling out an entirely new application disqualifies you entirely or just nulls your first application.

You can update it. They added the ability with the release of FFXIII, so that people could put in their promo code.

Ok scratch all that, just read this from SE's FAQ regarding the Beta.

There are sections on my application that I want to update/change after I applied for the Beta Test.

That's not necessarily true, but yeah, in Square's case most likely is. It depends on when the developer wants to focus on legacy systems. In most cases I have found that Developer's prefer mid range systems for earlier testing phases. They then turn to the application database later on to fill in the blanks and fulfill testing on various legacy systems and hardware configurations.

I posted a very long winded rant a few months ago about how FFXIV's beta application ranks pretty low in terms of functionality. Most up and coming MMOs in testing do system scans. The great thing about system scans is that you are usually allowed to "Update" the scan at a later date (SWTOR comes to mind). Given that I upgraded my rig basically for FFXIV I was quite unhappy that they didnt do that.

The Scouts Honor checkbox method that Square chose this time around usually has people just checking the best components that people do not even have, so who knows perhaps it really doesn't matter. In the past before DirectX 10 I actually used to drop my system specs a notch on the applications knowing this and would get in early as I found that often developers start from the lowest supported DirectX and shader capability and work their way up in unison of the game's development. I have yet to participate in a Beta whose game promises DX10 that actually had it in the Beta until the very end. (Age of Conan Beta for example).

Lastly, what really bugs me is the whole POL ID aspect of it. If you have one POL ID that has been around since 2004 and were hoping that would help you, there is no chance to use that in another application if you upgraded your machine. Judging from some really obnoxious "I've never played FFXI but Im in the FFXIV Alpha test ask me a question!" posts I have seen on other forums, I wonder if that even made a difference at all.

Honestly, I would just make an new email account, sign up from a different IP and MAC address (You never know) and go for it.

To my understanding you can update your application by submitting another, though I could be wrong.

* The game to be tested is under development, and may differ significantly from the commercial release.
* If an applicant applies multiple times, only the final application will be valid.
* Inquiries regarding the selection process and/or its results will not be answered.
* For more details, see the FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Application FAQ here.
* If you have received a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code for registering FINAL FANTASY XIII on the Square Enix Members site, please use it to apply for the beta test.
* If you have already applied for the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta test but would like to apply for the PlayStation 3 beta with a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code, please be aware that all previous applications will be invalidated.
* The promotional code will also be required to obtain the FINAL FANTASY XIV secret in-game item, so please hold on to your code until the game’s official release.

The above is taken from http://entry.ffxiv.com/na/index.html

I've also changed my system's configuration since entering my beta info, so we share a similar situation. I've already went ahead and turned in another application without any problems. Here's hoping it works!

Sent an email to SE asking if I could update my computer's information for the beta application and this was their reply:

so by the time the beta starts, there's going to be a lot of people using different machines than they had originally stated... good thinking SE

That message basically answers nothing.

Submitted survey answers can not be changed, but you could still very well take a new survey and submit that for them to change the info.

Clearly the issue is PS2 Limitations.
