With E3 about 2 weeks away who else thinks that SE will show off more gameplay footage, more Race info and/or crafting details?

What does everyone else think SE will show at E3? Do you think they will go "big" with lots of new info or low key?

I thought for sure we'd be farther along by the time E3 rolled around again. Ah well...

I'm having a hard time making a guess.

They're slated to show XIV along with some Enix titles and Birth By Sleep.
XIV probably their headliner, and you certainly don't clunk down E3 cash for something you could just as easily throw up on a website. Then again, they had started out so strongly with the western media, but they've kind of strayed back onto familiar territory since the initial hype. They might make a big deal out of it for lack of anything else to really pump (because XIII Versus got a nice big fat juicy delay), or they might continue this under-the-radar routine...for whatever purpose it's serving.

I'm thinking that anything that they do in regards to FFXIV will be pretty unsubstantial. IIRC, SE never used the E3 expo as much of a platform for FFXI announcements...I'm expecting that trend to continue. Granted, my memory on this is pretty fuzzy. I could be completely off-base.

Any small tidbit would be appreciated, though. I'd love to see some more concept art. I get a kick out of that stuff.

At Gamescon (German's version of E3) They brought out the Alpha and allowed people to play , Vid of the weather effects , emotes, a trailer and thats just what I could remember off hand.
I'm thinking we will be getting alot more information. Posb start of beta , Release date, new trailer...the possbilities are endless.. I can't wait to see what SE has up their sleeve!

I'm guessing that XIV will have a strong showing, along with KH:BBS. They'll show off a few new smaller titles as well like the new DS game Four Heroes of Light. What I'm really waiting and hoping for is news about Versus XIII. Nomura has said that he'd like to release a couple of titles this year, and E3 would be the perfect venue for announcing a release date for Vs. (Agito would be a close second, with KH 3 coming in third) Squenix has gotten into the habit of having surprise announcements most years at E3, and I'm sure this year won't be a deviation from that.

While XIV is their biggest game currently known to the public, I just don't think it has the balls to stand alone as Squenix's strongest showing at the expo. They're going to want something big for good press, and I think Vs. news would fit the bill nicely.

I'm almost absolutely certain we won't be getting a release date...it would be short-sighted of them to settle on a date before undergoing beta testing. A new trailer or a beta announcement is conceivable, but I just have a feeling that SE isn't going to break their backs to get something that'll wow us at the expo.

As far as centerpiece announcements go for Square at E3: what about some FFV news? That'd really take the cake. Seems like an opportune time to show an early conceptual trailer...something to get people talking. I just don't see them hanging their hat on FFXIV this show. It's still not ready for it.

But hey, I'm lowering my expectations with the hope of being pleasantly surprised.

Honestly I think most of it will probably be things that we've already heard about or seen. I think they will probably just expand to cover the alpha leaks cause technically that information shouldn't have been released. I wouldn't be surprised if they expanded just a little bit on the leaks though.

I'm speculating also that they'll release and update information on the other cities and possibly another trailer of some sort. I really don't expect the new battle system to be fully tested by that time, but if they do cools. I can see maybe some information regarding guilds being officially released again just to expand on what they've already got.

I'm waiting to be proven wrong by E3, but until then I'll settle with rummaging the underground dirt for schuff that should be there...>.>

.

Announcing the release date based on an assumption would be the single dumbest move SE could do.

With the ammount of questions SE is probably expecting about FFxiv Im preeture sure theres going to be a bigger release of info, At least I really hope so. I want to know more about the crafting section of it too, for example... if your main class is tailor or something are you expected to be able to fight? or just reply on people who do to get what you need? Would be kinda silly running around poking monsters with a needle :P
Guess we gotta wait for E3 to know for sure.

Well I hope that they give us a little more information on XIV. For a game that they have been working on the past several years, it just doesn't feel like they have gotten very far. Things like the battle system which is fundamental to any FF game doesn't seem to be as polished as it should be after years of development.

So, what have they been working on all this time, I wonder?

I guess we'll see.

I can't believe that it has been more than a year since the game was announced! When I made my first post here, 3rd of June 2009, I thought it would be out much sooner. :(

Also, a year spent on reading that Aurelius guy's posts makes me sad.

Hopefully E3 will bring alot of news.

There better be a serious flood of information come E3. They have to be holding info back right now.

I dont understand how they can still claim this game is going to release this year if they dont release the flood gate at E3.

That's the way they develop games. If you can't grasp the concept, I feel sorry for you.

They don't develop the game like this: "Now we focus on feature X. Feature X is ready, now we focus on feature Y. Feature Y is ready, now we focus on feature Z".

They develop the game like this: "We develop feature X, Y and Z at the same time, and nothing is set in stone before very close to release. Before that, anything can change".

I hope I don't need to explain more.

You dont. Everyone on this forum knows that. Yours just repeating things to get your post count up. Am I right?

Anyways, 6 months till end of the year, and they have press releases stating its still on schedule to release this year. My speculation is there is info being held back for E3. In fact, as they have said, they plan to release more info, content and a new combat system for the next beta..... I hope this is the information they release.

Thanks for the MMO development pep-talk, yoda. ;)

Why are you then saying things that make no sense after everything I told you?

They won't release the floodgates, because all the info they are holding back is not Ready to be released in public, because it is still -subject- -to- -change-.

Thats the kind of post that gets him riled up in the first place. I'm going to try and dampen some of the ah, shall we say, more heated debates in here somewhat, but I'll need people on all sides willing to help mitigate it.
