About a year ago SE announced FFXIV, and told us to look at the logo for clues about gameplay. I don't remember if they ever officially went back to the logo but within a few days they mentioned that weapons would be important to the game... and there are weapons in the logo... it's a stretch, but ok.

Anyway, I never really took a close look at a high-res view of the logo, so for those of you that haven't, I suggest you take a minute. Here's a large one:

Personally, after looking at it, I have a couple of questions myself:

1 - Above the IN in FINAL, what the **** is that? A mouse/mole mutant?
2 - The samuari woman on the bottom left, is that some kind of class we can expect to see? More importantly, is that a large hand resting on her ample bottom?
3 - Is a Lala being levitated by a Roeg in the center? Crazy.
4 - Why are there so many spears? If it has a hatchet looking thing on the end, does it count as a spear?
5 - Does the guy poking out at the bottom have claws and a spear? Can I have that?

And so on.

The spear is probably just a guy hidden behind a foreground character, as seen in other places. You know what would be cool though? Spear-claws. 6 foot long claws for punching people through the face.

I personally think that statement was just a bunch of nonsense meant to keep us busy.

Actually, the logo gave us two hints.

One, it let us know the importance of many different weapon types (classes dependent upon weapon), and two, it gave us a hint about how party placement will be emphasized and how it may be utilized in game (melee in front, mages protected in the middle, and ranged in the back).

I'm surprised to see this pop up again, as I'm pretty sure this mystery was solved a looooong time ago.

We already knew the first point before they told us about the logo.

There's no way you can get placement out of that logo since there are guys with polearms all over the place.

It's like those carpets at offices, you stare at it long enough and you'll see whatever kinds of patterns you want.

I found Jesus in it. Perhaps SE is telling us that efficacy in combat will largely be faith-based?

After Cloud in FFVII, I wouldn't put it past SE.

Or that reraise will take 3 days to work.

On a semi-related note, an LS mate of mine once created a character named Jesus (or Jeesus, or some other name that could get past character creation like that). He used a poison potion to die in the middle of Jeuno, and then got raised. Then he gave out bread and wine-related items to random people.

I think he got a cease-and-desist order from SE within the hour.

1) I would love to see that C&D; I'm curious as to the wording.
2) Shouldn't it be bread and fish?

I was talking about the five bread loaves and two fish, not communion rites.

And I must issue a counterpoint:

Christians believe in Jesus. Mary was a Catholic/Christian. But the Bible explicitly states that Jesus was Jewish. So does that mean he didn't believe in himself?
