The developers need to time to examine and filter reports, correct errors, beta test again, etc. The final product needs to be finished before the actual release date (assuming it is still going to be this year).
SE still needs to tackle the Candidate, Marketing & Manufacturing and shipment of the final release to the public prior to official release. 6 1/2 months to public release from alpha is not a lot of time, especially for something like an MMO.
Just the fact that we are in Alpha 2 now means we are close to beta...
You do realize that they've been working on the beta from the time the testing begun more than two months ago?
Most likely since the beta test site went live even, which is more than 3 months already. That means 9 months to polish the beta version already.
Just because we test Alpha doesn't mean SE hasn't been working their *** off on the Beta version for months. The video we saw on character creation is a proof of this- if you had seen the character creation of Alpha and then what we saw during the beta, it's obvious.
