So i hear from a very very reliable source that beta invites have been going out within the last hour.

For all those chosen... CONGRATS!

:)

Still for PC only, "ps3 must wait for a future date" or something like that.

The invites that are going out are still for the alpha, not the beta. SE is getting close to their target number for players but they're not there yet. PS3 beta isn't expected until late closed beta/early open beta. There's still at least one more full week of alpha testing scheduled.

Aaawwwwww :( I dont have much of a chance getting in anyway but still lol, I plan on playing it on Ps3 due to the fact my laptop would probably randomly explode on me :P.

Invites would start going out (at least one, maybe a couple weeks) before the beta actually started.

The amount of testing SE wanted to do on both platforms before a final release would almost require beta to start soon. We are halfway through this year already. If not, you can expect them to push the release date back.

6½ months left, there's plenty of time >_>.

Wait, I'm not sure I understand - this is the alpha testing for the PC and Ps3? Or just the PC is happening right now?

The developers need to time to examine and filter reports, correct errors, beta test again, etc. The final product needs to be finished before the actual release date (assuming it is still going to be this year).

SE still needs to tackle the Candidate, Marketing & Manufacturing and shipment of the final release to the public prior to official release. 6 1/2 months to public release from alpha is not a lot of time, especially for something like an MMO.

Just the fact that we are in Alpha 2 now means we are close to beta...

You do realize that they've been working on the beta from the time the testing begun more than two months ago?

Most likely since the beta test site went live even, which is more than 3 months already. That means 9 months to polish the beta version already.

Just because we test Alpha doesn't mean SE hasn't been working their *** off on the Beta version for months. The video we saw on character creation is a proof of this- if you had seen the character creation of Alpha and then what we saw during the beta, it's obvious.

Hyanmen,

I'm not disagreeing with you. Actually, what you just said supports my first post.

We are talking about Beta invites going out, not when they will start developing the beta. I would hope the beta was close to finished by now.. actually I know it is close to finished (if not finished already) based off of the Dengeki Alpha/Beta Interview.

I expect the beta to run for at least 2~3 months, which leaves ~3 months for them to test and schedule the final release, marketing (info leaks, previews, etc.), shipments and go live (if their goal is still to release this year).

I know there were about 3000 more invites bringing the total to around 15k-ish testers right now...
