So uh, yeah. I hope there's an option to turn off voices and have subtitles only because if the benchmark is any indication the voices in this game are going to be awful.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

Thanks for your expert opinion.

I thought they were great.

No wonder the video game industry doesn't care about good voice acting. It's because nobody notices when it's bad.

It's true. There are lots of people that can't recognize that theatrical voice acting isn't generally supposed to be realistic, and therefor confuse it with a bad attempt at realistic voice acting.

Probably people like Lobi here.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Every voice in the game could be voiced by one single British guy doing different tones depending on if its a man or woman speaking and I'd still like it better than reading everything. God I hate reading lol. I do enough of it on the interwebz I don't want to have to do it on video games as well

I don't think it's "good" but it's far from bad. Maybe you should stop padding your posts...

I'm all for criticism if it can drive developers to make better and better games over time and you're entitled to your opinion, but I think people are too picky these days. They expect everything to be perfect 100% of the time without fail, but that's never ever going to happen.

Personally, I just take what I can get and be thankful for it since I can't make any games myself. The energy toward nit-picking every single little detail can be better spent somewhere else for me.

Plus, the game is only in alpha just now getting ready for beta so if they really think the voices are bad they'll "fix" them by the time of launch. If they don't, then it wasn't important enough to "fix".

Personaly I havent even heard it yet. so cat really comment on weather its good or bad, But i dont think it makes a diffrence really. certain games have HORRIBLE voice acting , but are still blast to play. first res evil game for example. LOOK AT THE MONSTERS!!!! I play it for teh game not for the voice acting.

I found the voices in the benchmark to be quite well done, the only one I had an issue with was near the end - the high pitched "Limsa Lominsa! A sight for me sore eyes!"

If anything that only adds realism though, I can think of a dozen people in RL whose voices I can't stand lol
