I am so excited I can barely focus on anything in game because its not gonna matter in less than 3 months. I am gonna be back in the Final Fantasy world and I cant wait. Its pathetic that a grown man is this excited over a video game but I cant help it I am so **** excited!

Ugly male character models and stiff animations is what ruined it for me, and they have been in since day one... :P

Hopefully FFXIV will deliver and live up to your expectations. Personally, I have learned that it's often better not to get them too high.

I'm right there with you. I am extremely excited about the game arriving in less than 3 months, for PC anyway. Now I am doing a bunch of day labor to earn enough to upgrade my computer and when not working looking at the official website and frequenting this forum.

Nothing pathetic about it, as long as it's within reason. What's the average age of gamers now...28-ish?

I'm quite psyched too...though my excitement is curbed somewhat by empathy for PS3 users.

I agree with this 100%. I'm very excited about the late September release, since I expected probably late November/Early December. I am very disappointed for those for whom the PS-3 is the ideal platform. I don't think any one can be happy about a six wait for our console playing brethren.

Also, I cancelled my WOW acount today. Cataclysm is taking the whole "replace your epic gear with random trash greens" approach to a whole new level. My warlock in nearly BiS gear would literally replace almost all of it within a single level. We have two Shadowmournes in our guild and both of them will be obsolete the moment any one gains about 20 points of blacksmithing skill (which could take as few as 4 items to achieve). Congrats on the "legendary" weapon we all worked so hard to get you. Too bad the only thing you ever got to use it on was to farm the mobs that we had to farm before you even get it in the first place.

Considering there are no new talents, and they got rid of the Path of the Titans, I don't see any thing to look forward to in Cataclysm. Even more reason to be excited about FFXIV.

I actually started WoW two months ago because I wanted an MMO to play again, but I didn't want to get involved in FFXI again because I knew I would get obsessed, and I am for sure going to FFXIV. I will have no issue whatsoever turning off my WoW in August and preparing myself for FFXIV.

And don't feel bad about being a grown man and being excited. I'm a grown man and I needed to change my pants when I saw the release date was in September.

I actually started wow less than 2 months ago and since hearing the news of the new FFXIV release date in September i can barely play it. Though i only started wow as a filler till ffxiv anyway, so its all good. The one thing that i cant stand about wow is how one character can only be one class. I got attached to my first character (who is a lvl 55 pld now) but i would still like to try other jobs. However, when i start another character it feels weird because its not "my" character. FFXI spoiled me....

UncleRuckusForLife, would that all of our problems could be solved by thinking, "It doesn't matter; FFXIV starts in 3 months."

This thread brightened my day. ^^

That is such an awesome post! You summed up how I feel. I'm 27 years old and I feel like such a nerd because I'm jumping around like a little girl over a video game release date. Already pre-ordered the collectors edition and now just day dream drooling over the possibilities of FFXIV! Hope we're on the same server man!

The solution is female character models :)

At any rate, I quit WoW back in March (had to come back briefly when my canceled account was reactivated and stolen so that I could log in to retrieve my recovered items mailed from a GM) but I was done with WoW when FH and IC went live.

I've half considered going back after Cataclysm just to see what the world has changed to, but $40+$15 doesn't seem worth it to me. In the meanwhile, I'm just killing time on single player games and F2P MMOGs.

Actually the day FFXIV was announced last year, FFXI was pretty much ruined for me. I hung on for a few more months before quitting - but basically all of the big goals I had were going to take me many months to a year or more to achieve anyway, so I figured what was the point.

The only thing I really will miss is having obtained my Eibesu rod and never really fully utilizing it. I saw just recently they finally added new legendary fish and expanded the list of fish eligible for Inside the Belly. Oh well. I will certainly be a fisherman in FFXIV, in addition to my combat class.

That said, I have need no official fishing class. I just remember reading a storyline blurb where they were describing gameplay and created a scneario where a fighter class whipped out his fishing rod and suddenly became a fishing class, etc. Heres hoping fishing will be in the game.
