When does SERVICE begin?Follow

By now we all know the collectors edition of FFXIV is coming out on September 22nd and the regular edition comes out on September 30th, however do we know yet when the actual service begins? Meaning, when the servers go live? I very much do not want to be waiting at game stop at 5am in the morning then rush down the freeway home doing 90mph and flip my car just so I can be one of the "first". Not that I would flip my car, I'm a much more skilled driver than that and would be sure to properly drift it through intersections, but that's beside the point. Usually when MMORPG's come out, or expansions for them, they go live like a week after they are released or something. Does anyone know?

Unless there's another "translation error", I think we're mostly in agreement that the servers will go live on September 22nd. I don't know of a SE quote to confirm it though.

On the official site, it says pretty clearly: "Play 8 days prior to the release of the standard edition."

I think the OP meant, "What time do the servers go live?" If I misunderstood that, please excuse me. As for what time, I don't know. Most seem to go live between 9am-12noon release day.

I hadn't thought about that. I think it's pretty safe to guess, based on everything we've seen from XI's history, that they'll base the time of the servers firing up on JST.

This is total speculation, but if they went with 9am Wednesday Sept22 JST for the startup time, that'd actually be 5pm TUESDAY, the 21st for Pacific time.

*edit*
If the above turned out to be the case, it'd put a whole new incentive on an in-store midnight release Smiley: grin
At least for some people.... like me.

I don't know that that would be so surprising. Most MMOs cater to the timezones of the country it's based in.

I received a tweet from the japanese SE yesterday evening, saying that they are sending the first invites for the beta. Following, they are going to say the day of the opening of the beta.
