The above link is my specs. Now going by the requirements of the game on the official website, the only area I'm lacking in is the video card. This is fine, I've wanted to upgrade it for awhile but never really had a real excuse too. Now that the PS3 is delayed I'll be starting on my PC.

Basically what I'm looking for is a video card (has to be a low-profile fyi) that I can buy for a decent price of 150 or less that can run ffxiv decently. I will be playing in low res 1280 x 1024, so it doesn't need to be something crazy powerful. Thank you in advance for your help.

Its off to work I go, so I'll be checking this post later.

This should answer most of what you need to know in depth.

Short version, I'd recommend a Radeon 5770. If you haven't already run the FFXIV benchmark tool, consider running it so you have something for reference.

Depending on the performance you're hoping to get out of the game, a triple core processor may be fine; the minimum specs -do- suggest a dual core for the -beta-; at the same time, most benchmark scores indicate that if you hope to score over 3000-3500, a quad core is advised.

If all you want to upgrade is your video, then the 5770 should be in your price range and should increase your performance. I'd still run the benchmark though.

I must say I am having a hard time finding a low-profile version of that card or the others in your linked post. A lot of them have a 1gb of memory, and considering the PC version is really just holding me until the PS3 release, I would rather have the 512mb and save some coin.

If you're on a budget, I'd go with this one instead. It's about $50 more, but the performance difference would be worth it.

Thank you for the reply. The extra $50 doesnt bother me. The only question I have is it low-profile? I didnt see anywhere on the page that said if it was or wasnt.

Hmm... doesn't look like it. It's got a double sized mounting bracket. I'm assuming you've got a micro ATX case then?

Unfortunately I can't find any cards I can recommend that are low-profile.

So would either of those be sufficient to run the game? Again, I honestly just wanna be able to play it starting at launch. If its all the way down at bare min specs, I'm ok with that as I'll be migrating to PS3 come march or whenever it is released.

-maybe-

The suggested minimum is a 9800 GTX. I'm not positive that those would run it. You could try.
