New Interview by JeuxOnLineFollow

Wow, there is a whole lot of hostility in this thread on both sides. I hadn't seen this interview until just now, and I have to admit that I'm a little skeptical about the whole "Technical difficulties" explanation as well. It just seems a bit... trite and patronizing I guess.

I mean, the Ps3 isn't new hardware anymore, and SE had cited that they have been developing this game for the past several years. Now they are hitting technical difficulties? Well, I suppose there's nothing for it and that's all we are going to get out of them.

Nail in the coffin, for me at least, but I'm glad they did acknowledge that people aren't thrilled with the announcement.

There isn't "on both sides". I know alot of PS3 only players are very dissapointed, and as a primarily PC gamer I feel bad for them. However the problem is runway and one or two other minority posters with majority ********* posts. Honestly it's time we all just ignored those posters and got on with things. I don't even look forward to clicking on alla forums for XIV info anymore specifically because of it. I know I'm guilty of feeding a troll or two, but I generally don't feed the same one multiple times a day like some of my "fellow" PC enthusiasts have been.

Yup. The common consensus is that all the posters who aren't functionally deficient do feel bad for the PS3 players who kinda got shafted through no fault of their own.

The only problem comes in when people say they aren't going to buy XIV, and then spend the following week doing nothing but whine. There's no hostility otherwise.

I can't believe people who were initially excited for this game are now backing away because their version has been delayed a bit...

Well, and I'm just speaking somewhat objectively here, the main complaint is not so much that they don't want to wait (They don't, but that's not the main complaint); it's that they wanted to be among the first people to play.

That's one of the things I've been looking forward to about XIV. Even if it turns out that I don't like the game 3-4 months down the road and I quit, I can say that I remember when the servers went live, the first time someone hit the "level cap", assorted glitches that accompany a new game...

Not only do PS3 players not have that, but if people were planning to play as a group from launch and even ONE of them is on PS3, then the PC players will have to march on without them and come back for them later.

It's just like a Christmas present.... Sure, most people would be glad to get a brand new PS3 (or whatever) for their birthday... but if you give them a used one that has been opened, played on, and returned, the magic isn't there.

Sure, it's still new to YOU, but the fact that someone else has used it just makes it seem less fun to many people.

And that's usually enough for people to say "If I can't experience the game from the start, then I'll go elsewhere instead of waiting".

I do actually feel for them, I just know a lot of these people will buy the game anyways in the end, just a way to express their anger I supppose.

This is totally reasonable, but if someone is as hardcore as this, which he must be the first group of people to start the game, then he should be looking at every possible ways to get decent PC that can play the PC version.
