I'm not sure when they announced this but I have never heard of it before. A picture of the armguards can be found here. http://member.square-enix.com/na/features/ff13/serialcode/ps3.php

Asuran Armguards
These gauntlets, crafted in the mysterious Far East and named after one of the land's exotic gods, have been imbued with strange magicks which permeate any item they touch.

Effect: Enhances the effectiveness of your equipped arm or tool.

Does this mean improved crafting!?! I got my code when I bought the game 2 months ago. Lucky me. Finding a code now might be difficult though.

Yeah... This has been known for quite a while. ^^;

Yes, that would appear to be what they do... But there's little point in getting too hyped over them just yet.

I wonder how PS3 players are affected by this now. Do I still get the item in March when I register on PS3?

According to the SE members website:

Quote:
Those who have registered their PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system version FINAL FANTASY XIII Campaign Codes can now choose to apply this code to the Windows PC version of FINAL FANTASY XIV.

Looks to me like PC only? Or just PC only now, due to PS3 being delayed is possible I guess?

This makes me angry....
I'm a little tired of the short end of the stick because I'm not a PC gamer.
OTOH I didn't expect anything when I bought FFXIII and I got a free bonus item. I could just pretend that I never got it... I guess

Actually, this screws PC gamers more than PS3 gamers.

Irony time:

*insert gripe about the fact that I don't own a PS3; bought 13 for my 360, and can't get Asuran Armbands unless I fork out $60 for a game I can't play on a console I can't own*

I'll save you all the "boo friggin hoo" right now by saying it at myself. :)

I don't understand how it hurts PC gamers?

This is good news indeed. I have purchased the CE and SE FFXIV PC versions and hopefully I can apply the codes from the SE edition to my CE account. If I have to wait 8 days to apply both codes since supposedly it can only be applied before you start a new character someone pointed out; guess I'll just wait til the official start date and not jump in on the head start. This is my first MMO that I am starting from the beginning so kind want to get everything this time around.

And for everyone saying they can't play it on their PC we shall see I will be benchmarking this old school setup when I get my ATI 5770 card tomorrow below. I will also mention this is a pre-fab from Dell, the Dimension 9100. So if I can benchmark really well on this... technically a lot of older computers can run FFXIV. Really don't need a 500.00 upgrade. The card I bought is about $170.00 though. Will keep you posted in hardware/benchmark thread here on ZAM when I do the benchmark tomorrow.

CPU: Pentium 4 3.0 GHz HyperThread Prescott (2MB L2 Cache)
Memory: 4GB DDR2-670Mhz Dual-Interleaved (533MHz since memory not all matching)
GPU: ATI Radeon 5770 HD 1GB GDDR5 128-bit
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

If you game on PC, you may or may not have a console. If you don't have a console, you can't play FFXIII. If you can't play FFXIII, you'd be pretty silly to have gone out and spent $60 on a retail box for a console game just to get a code for a PC game you plan on playing <whenever it comes out>. Just to follow the trend, I should start three new threads crying about how PC users got screwed, no armbands for us, wtf SE, you're all liars, a hate your faces, etc. etc. Oh, the price of fitting in...

I don't have a PS3 and I didn't buy FFXIII and I will be playing on a PC, but I will have the Armbands!! I got lucky a friend gave me his code! And PC gamers should not be mad if they don't have the code. We are getting to play the game a lot earlier than the PS3 players! I'm sure PS3 players are going to get an even better item just because it was delayed. **** people who order the normal version for PC are getting goggles that give them extra XP to catch up to the CE people who started playing a week earlier. Can you imagine what the PS3 players are gonna get for starting months later!!

I'm not saying anyone should be mad. I was just responding to the question about how a bonus item for XIV that's only available to console users shorts PC users.

Nah I agree with you. People are going to start crying because it's ALLA! I just wanted to add that people should not get mad because no matter SE compensates.
