The Final Fantasy XIV beta is confirmed for July 10th! Just two more days until lucky testers get to jump in and play with the new and improved Eorzea.

Today, Famitsu published a few comments from Battle Planner Atsushi Okada on some of the improvements he has made to the battle system.

we plan to include a set of icons intended to convey key concepts. For example, there will be signs that indicate "Let's do Battle Regimen X" or "Please heal me!" that can be quickly and easily displayed to the party."

I hope these commands will be in the auto translate function. I will certainly help when fighting alongside others that don't speak your language. I like the idea. Sometimes, it really is hard to say what you need to say when your trying to keep a heal cycle going.

Thanks as always for your translations Elmer.

<Voice chat> <Can I have it?>

Really though I think it is a good idea, but for a game like this where there would be such obvious advantages I've been crossing my fingers for Voice chat. Of course I understand the problems they are having with cross-platform voice chat, but I was still hoping, with this announcement it doesn't look good though. Oh well...

Almost seems like there won't be any macros ; ;

Seeing as they are not able to release PC and PS3 simultanously or at least delay the PC release a bit...why should they be able to create something like Voice Chat...

Though I can't wait for FFXIV and will play it like crazy...I'm really getting ****** at these last few news we got...now the only thing missing is "PC gets 3rd Party Add On approval" and my head will blow up...

The multiple twitter sites might be so they can post information about the game on the respective language, since those are the official languages the game will be released on, instead of having 1 twitter with a mixture of languages, they made one for each :)

Any idea if they are sending out more invites. Smiley: cry

Hmmm... still no hints of invites going out though. Has anyone heard anything? Without breaking NDA of course...

I haven't heard any news, but my guess is they sent out invites earlier this week/month. Seems like they give everyone about a week of notice before the testing period begins.

So sad :( I had such high hopes in getting to beta test, too much competition XD

I still hope they do some sort of Open beta, even if it is for a couple of days just to test server capacity before the 22nd.

As far as I am aware, there are still going to be more invites sent out for closed beta.

Really stoked to hear that it's Beta Time, at last!

On the other hand, I have yet to receive any kind of invitation in my inbox, so that's a bummer. Maybe there's still hope to be one of the lucky few who will get to play it first...

I never got an invite either :( Oh well, I never win anything either. Bad luck I suppose.

It'd be nice if they map those battle icons to a button, rather than waste a button for an emote menu.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

I also think that if invites were sent out this week, someone would have mentioned something about it. Everything I have checked seems to point to no recent invites.

I have a feeling we will be hearing something or hopefully receiving something in the next 24 hours.

Good Luck Everyone!

It might just be wishful remembering but I thought i heard on an interview or something that closed beta would start off with mostly alpha goers then invites would be sent later. I might just be wishing this lol.

All I know is that...
I'll do moose stuff for an invite.

I remember hearing about this too. Probably why we haven't heard about invites.

What ever you want it to be I can have *** with you or I can stand over there and drink from the lake, and everything in between...lol

Oh and look what I found on a site leading to another site =P Its French and got the link from FF14news.com
http://www.jeuxonline.info/actualite/27600/jeuxonline-rencontre-hiromichi-tanaka

Its an interview...and what do you see about phase 4!?
Possible but not definite OPEN BETA...possibly....LOL made me happy seeing it...so if nothing else they'll probably toss a ton of invites to see what beating servers can take when the game does launch.

A new Tweet this morning. I'm assuming this suggests that invites have been sent but no one is talking about it? I tried to see if I could download the client for giggles from the link on the Twitter page and it tells me I'm not registered.

I know alpha players are rolling into Beta but not sure on invites. I do know right now it's still a scheduled time beta meaning not 24/7 yet. I'm sure alot of invites are going out in phased 2 to stress test servers. When you filled out your beta app it ask when you would play. That is the one reason alot of people didn't get invite as of yet.

As for battles I'm on the fence here. Alot of button spamming mean not alot of time for typing. Makes it harder to communication exactly, macro are okay but sometimes you need to talk. As for voice chat we might need it if this is the case. Don't know how it would work out internationally. I know my Company is looking into a vent server or something but then again PS3 > PC voice chat is another issue.

What I read in other threads was that the Alpha testers are now in the Beta, and future Beta invites will be made as the testing proceeds. But again, this isn't an official statement and it is all assumptions.

It makes perfect sense having more testers than in the Alpha, as they are also testing server stability and capacity, they will want more players to try and reach that cap where Lag becomes an issue. But, could also be that there is a server cap set right now, all invitations were sent already, and there are player in line waiting to play because of the cap creating a online players restriction, this cap will be raised or lifted with time letting all testers log in at the same time, doing the Lag test....

Also, it isn't too assuring of more invitations being sent, I guess it all depends on their needs, 2000 Beta test keys will be given out at Japan Expo... that is nearly 2000 new testers (in case they all meet the requirements to play, which might not even be an issue to get selected for a key, so some of then will end up having key, but not a PC to run the game)... anyway regardless all this, I am starting to lose hopes on getting in the beta, because I do not even know if having and Open beta is part of their plans, or if there is need for more testers right now, so I am better just making myself busy and stop getting anxious over something that might not happen :P

If by chance there is a Open Beta, count me in lol....and I surely want to stop twitching every time my email notifier says I got new mail, first thought in my head is "beta invite"...
