It should run the benchmark pretty well. The graphics card will be your limiting factor and you'll never be able to upgrade it unless you also get a larger power supply. You'll also never be able to do crossfire or sli with that motherboard.

HD 5770 is a good card , why would that be limiting factor?

It is a good card but it's still the limiting factor, the rest of his rig will run the benchmark very well and there's no way to boost performance by upgrading the cpu or ram. The 5770 is en par with the 4870 but trails behind the 5850 and 5870 by a lot. Upgrade to a 5850 and you'll get a huge boost in performance...of course they are more expensive.

289.99 CPU
200.00 Memory
100.00 HD
149.99 GPU

Total: 738.99 so far if you were to order the parts off of Newegg.com, this is not including OS, Motherboard. DVD/RW drive. Case. So the system is $1100.00 and you still are about 370.00 away from it if you built it yourself not including the above. DVD is cheap so won't even count that. OS... get it free. Motherboard, can range from 75.00 to 150.00. Case 50.00-125.00. You would still save money building it yourself, about 100.00 or more. Could squeeze that extra money into a 5830/5850/5870 if $1,100.00 is your budget.

I am not sure about Gateway but Dell locks down their BIOS to where you can't overclock and forces you to buy another Dell or have wasted your money. I am not sure what Gateway does. Custom is always better cause you know what your system can do.

Will this run FFXIV? Of course. 5770 is not a bad deal either. Can always upgrade at a later point. With this system you CANNOT Crossfire/SLI. Not that I would anyways unless you get another 100% increase :-P

Yes, gateway also locks down their BIOS.

I'm going to eventually replace my MB when I upgrade my processor in part to this reason.

If you are comfortable with building your own, check some of these out for similar $$$$

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.441108 Comes with a 5830, more powerful PS, weaker CPU (i think??) but solid still, FANTASTIC cooling case (i have 1, 9 fans 23*c idle)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.441111 BEAST, a little more expensive but if you wanted you could probably sell one of the GPU's on ebay if you didnt want to xfire. Out of stock atm though =/

Edit: I'm sorry, I just realised I was probably no help. That is a good system but as others have stated, pre-fabed pc's usually have locked bios. It's no big deal though if you don't plan on OCing. Also, as others have stated, the 5770 is a decent card (I have one of these as well) but it will limit your game settings a bit. I scored just over 4300 on low with it so I ordered a 5830, which was right at my budget limit.

I don't want to sound like a fanboi of AMD based systems, but I feel you get more bang for your hard earned gil from AMD.

Let us know what you decide and good luck ^^
