I didn't see the "Note: this is a joke" part all the way on the top middle of the post, so at first I started reading as though it was a serious post.

Then I saw the first pic......is that a second mobo in the distance? Started wondering.

Then "my brother said the motherboard is the most important part of a computer, so I got 2 of them for more powerful graphics power" and I cracked up.

I guess my dog got tired of me waking him up with random fits of laughter and walked out of the room.

That was truly awesome.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Thank you for the warning; I for one would have spent the next 10 minutes cleaning up if not for the heads up...

I must be a pretty big nerd. Only parts I laughed at was "Commodore" and the fact that he was putting the components on carpet.

It's a shame today's Monday; this would've been Happy Friday gold.

I know!

My coworker believes that his 3-4 year old HP is somehow as good as, or maybe even better than, my personally-built computer.

Now, my personally-built computer is nothing to really brag about, but it _does_ have a Quad-Core AMD, 8GB RAM, and a non-VIA based motherboard, along with a 512MB ATI card.

It scores about 1800 on the Benchmark.

That little wimpy HP of his wouldn't even _run_ the benchmark, most likely. Heck, he complains about GPU lag in WoW and he doesn't even have the view distance maxed and he's running 800x600. lol.

I keep telling the kid to lemme take a look at his comp -- I bet you the weak one in the other room would outdo his, and I made that one three years ago!

Oh, and he also believes that Norton AV is "the sh*t". And he doesn't like to use Firefox and thinks IE is just fine.

That last part is all I needed to hear to gauge his level of comprehension.

People who have severely limited computer knowledge and accept and admit this don't bother me at all. It's the people that have severely limited computer knowledge and think they know more than me that **** me off. I have nothing against people who ask me what I'm talking about or ask me to explain something; I love to teach and I have no problem explaining how or why things work the way they do, and no problem admitting I don't know something when I don't. But when someone who clearly has no @#%^ing clue what they're talking about tries to give advice or "corrects" valid advice with flawed advice based solely on personal experience and interpretation (or less), I find myself unable to refrain from biting their head off.

My bet is, if you ever did take a look at his comp, it has no fewer than three laughably unnecessary toolbars and no fewer than two IM clients. I'll also be willing to go double or nothing that he has Zwinky/MyWebSearch/SmileyCentral/CursorMania/PopularScreensavers or some similar garbage on there, and that his HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (and/or HKCU) are flooded with junk too.

It's the way they always are on systems like that.

The first time build was funny, but the p-p-p-powerbook was just epic. My heard kinda sank at the last paragraph though...I wonder what happened?
