Nvidia is launching affordable graphic cards just in time for the drop of FFXIV. for those that are looking to upgrade your rig might be worth a look.

Lol, I was expecting a 3rd gag thread for the night.

This looks like a cool option, but personally, for $70 more, I'd get a Fermi core gtx 465 which still come in way under the price range of the gtx 470/480.

Sounds like their answer to the ATI 5750/5770 line. That's pretty cool though. I already bought a 5770 though D:

Great!

I have a 9800GTX+ and scored 2150 and 3300 on high and low.
The video on high is choppy and I might get a new card just for FF14.

Interested to see how it performs against the other cards.

Another piece to keep an eye on is the i5 760 which is supposedly coming out very soon.

Seems pretty good in terms of value.

Probably will get this to replace me 9800. Gonna wait till the game is out thou. Want to see the actual difference between old card and new card.

That would be a mistake. This thing makes the 465 completely obsolete, if it wasn't already. For $70 less, it's faster than the 465 as well as vastly quieter, cooler, and more energy efficient.

This is correct, it is hands down the superior card by far. With its price tag it is also one of the most affordable performance cards out right now and should help the prices of their higher end cards start to drop.

I just read that review, and all I can say is WOW. Tomshardware can be a bit biased at times, but that OCing ability is nuts. Along with that low power consumption and temperature...holy crap.

That card just got bumped up to the #1 spot on my "which GPU to buy?" list.

Edit: On Newegg, the only 1Gb version available is from a brand called Palit. Anyone familiar with them?

Surprised that you can overclock 20%+

Always believed that if they can overlock the thing without crashing, why don't they just overclock it in the first place...

Regardless, if anyone want to get this card early, please come back and post the scores, will be very helpful!

Palit is really good, They're just behind EVGA and MSI for me in quality.

A couple of the brands already are. One of the Palit cards comes overclocked out of the box.

with respect to refrence cards, quality should be more or less identical across the board and the only thing that makes a difference is pricing and service.

about time nvidia hit another home run, this card at the sub 200$ price point is quite a bargain even in DX9 according to the benches I've looked at, which is what is relevant for FF14.

Well, the card I am going to buy has a 125.22CND discount, making its price 344.97$, if it is thanks to this promotion or not, I am not sure, but the price is definitely great, just some 30$ EVGA GTX 465.

EVGA 012-P3-1472-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked Video Card - 1280MB GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0, Dual DVI, HDMI, SLI, DirectX 11
