Aww, congrats to those who got in!

Of course I was an idiot and signed up for the beta test using the FFXIII code and clicking that I would play the beta on the PS3... thinking that both betas would be going on at the same time... XD

Well, at least I know it won't be too long until I'll have the real thing to play with everyone! :D

Watch a PS3 beta invite come after I've been playing for 3 months... lol.

You are aware that saying you've been accepted to the Beta is breaking the NDA, right?

Really? Even Elmer said at least that much in his stickied post about not breaking the NDA...

I think Elmer's case is a little different, seeing how EVERYONE that was at Fanfest got an invite.

Eh, at best the whole thing is a gray area and a matter of opinion. There's very little difference between saying "I attended Fanfest" and "I have an e-mail from SE in my personal inbox." In neither scenario had either yet agreed to the NDA.

Ontop of that there's a post floating around where someone tells how their machine handled the beta, so by your definition, they're guilty as well even though they only discussed their personal hardware.

It's not like anyone came on and said "holy crap, the end boss is a moogle that poops lightning and burps thunder and you beat him by attackng at a 30 degree angle from he left!!!"

All i'm saying is, there was no NDA for attending the Fanfest. Saying you were there automatically says you are in the Beta. The whole "Can't announce being selected" thing is really just a technicality. Old Style contract srcipt from a time that MMORPG's didn't exist. Still, it has to be enforced, but with fanfest people, there is an out.

If you want to be legalistic, the NDA also doesn't cover the receipt of emails. It's not breaking the NDA to say that you have been invited to the beta, but once you've read the NDA and clicked "accept" (ie, once you're actually doing ANY beta testing) then you're covered under the NDA.

So some one saying "I was playing the new beta client last night" is breaking the NDA while some one saying "I got invited to beta, I hope it's cool" is not. That's if you want to get legalistic.

Just so it's known information, those that have applied for the Beta for the Playstation 3 are also receiving an invitation for the PC version. Probably because there will be no PS3 Beta before the game is released in September. I applied for PS3 too and then recently just switched to PC again since I sold my PS3. No reason owning a console for 2-3 games that I constantly play. And as for Blu-ray, I can just download BR discs in 720p/1080p. No loss on my part.

I've always wanted to participate in a game Beta.

I'm mostly wanting to see how it will run on my PC. I'm hoping I can get away with it for awhile before I have to upgrade.

I have an AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor 2.80 GHz - 3GB RAM - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT - Windows 64bit.

All I have to say is.... CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO GOT IN! : )

Don't feel so bad if you didn't get an invite. You aren't the only one. I signed up the day the beta was announced and nothing... well I do get spam mail from SE from time to time. Still the game is due in a month or two. Shame I won't get to test during my 6 week holiday. Never mind.

I expect it will take me a few months to get my head round the thing in any case as I had been trying not to think about the game for a year or so. Now I need to go see if theres a decent pet class to play BST FTW in FFXI.

One thing I've wondered is that somehow I duplicated my application - which they said would nullify your first application in addition to the second one. There was some confusion about registering/signing up/etc so I've always thought I may have shot myself in the foot.

Congrats to everyone that made it, lets see if my luck changes for the next selection round =/

Also, I got one question, "We’ve sent Beta Test acceptance mails to thousands of new applicants! Might you be one of them!? Check your mailbox...RIGHT NOW!" New Applicants mean what? I applied back when the beta application forms were available, way before FF13 was out, does "new Applicants" include these people that applied long time ago?

I know there were some changes made to Square Enix accounts and such, so just wondering if I should re-apply, or if there is a way to check if I am in the list at all.

I would assume it to mean "applicants who have yet to be involved" instead of "applicants who more recently applied." I'm sure they'd have announced if they were wiping the slate and starting with a fresh list ... maybe.

So, is it clear that saying you got in after "accept" breaks NDA? Or can we get away with a subtle hint?

Unless SE's NDA spells out it that "any" mention of the Beta is breaking contract then no.

Generally NDA's allows you to say "Yes I am/was/currently in thisbeta" but that is all. Again not all NDA's are the same however every Beta that I have done in the last 15 years or so have been handled as such.

and no I didn't get into this one ( /sadface )

If I recall correctly, I think the Alpha NDA stated that not only could you not say you were in the Alpha, you weren't even allowed to say what the NDA said, or that it existed.

Everyone is making it seem like you just finished filling out your SF-86 for Top Secret clearance or something. The point of the NDA is to protect the companies intellectual property from being stolen before it is copyrighted. I doubt that SE is going to send a hit squad to your house if you say that the graphics are much better than in FFXI.

Edit: Jeez! The white background of FFXIV forums make my sig look horrible. Can't we get a darker background so those of us that play both don't need to find colors that work for both forums.

Do you see what I did there?
