"Epic Games was the reason why the 360 has 512 MB of RAM, and S-E is having a hard time porting Final Fantasy XIV to the PS3 because of the small amount of RAM that it has. That is why the PS3 version of FFXIV has been delayed by 6 months from the PC release."

Umm 256 ram? for those of you whom are tech savy correct me if Im wrong but dont most calculators have more ram than that? If so how can a console which such low ram host beautiful looking games such as FFXIII? , but if the 256 ram thing IS true looks like the "lack of inventory space and ps3 limitations" excuses will soon be in our face.

One other thing off the subject but umm theres no class that uses daggers in this game? seriously fantasy based MMOs exist where theres not a dagger wielder?!?! -faints-

Remember that a PS3 doesn't need to run an OS or background applications and processes like a computer does.

And most of the games that come out for PS3 look fine to me for a system that only has 512 MB of RAM total.

At the time of its release considering it didn't have an OS or various other programs a PC would need half a gig of ram (half of which used for the video) was a good amount considering most people wouldn't need more than 1 gig of ram. Nowadays though it's pretty standard to have 4 gigs so it seems really small. I think calculators use ram for basic storage so that's not really something you can compare it with.

And I think the gladiator can use a dagger along with a few other weapon types.

umm ps3 has 512 ram? but i thought it was 256? a gladiator might use a dagger (but it isnt listed in the ffxiv homepage) but it wont have the evasion of a thief so i guess Ill be stuck with pugilist

256 system + 256 video = 512

The PS3 actually does have an OS, which currently takes up about 50 MB of RAM.

And note that while the PS2's 256 MB RAM + 256 MB VRAM seems small nowadays, the system is four years old now.
