Another "Will My Rig Run It" QuestionFollow

I know there's been tons of these, but I have to ask. I'm really exited about FFXIV, and would hate to have to wait until March for the PS3 version to play it. The Benchmark is useless right now because of my horrible graphics card, which will be the first thing to get replaced.

Anyway, My computer is pretty old. I know it'll need a few upgrades to have a chance to run the game, I just want to get some opinions if upgrading will do any good. Here's the basic specs.

Intel Pentium D 2.8ghz
Windows XP SP3
2 GB DDR2Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 (Yes, I know this is the big problem)

So I was planning on upping the ram to 4GB and replacing the ancient graphics card. Either to a Geforce 9800 or or GTS 250. I'm a bit worried about the Pentium D. Its Dual Core, but not a Core 2 Duo. That's not something I can upgrade, (I know its possible, but not something I have the know how to do) so if it won't work I'm SOL.

So should I even bother for the upgrades, or does the Pentium D ***** me? /sigh

I wouldn't count on that cpu, at all. Short answer, get/build a new comp.

I would not recommend either of those cards, nor would I recommend either of those processors.

Unless you are going to be fine with playing on the bare minimum or very very low settings, I would strongly recommend a quad core or hexacore processor and a GeForce GTX 400 series or a Radeon 5700/5800/5900 series. Any dual core processor or any video card that is not at least that is going to severely hamper you.
