Which class will use the Scythe?Follow

The Scythe was a power-house. For both power and style, DRK was incredible.

Surely they won't be omitting this awesome weapon for the long run?
I could see it being used by Lancer, perhaps.

I suppose there will be a expansion with "advanced" classes available? Has anyone hinted at this?

I'm surely not the only one wondering where the Scythe will fit into FFXIV. Anyone else care to conjecture?

Horticulturalist.

Come on, it would make sense and it would be funny.

Well they've gotta keep some weapon types available for later updates. I highly doubt they'd just forget about scythes, so if we don't get them on release, expect to see them in a later expansion, 99% guaranteed.

Of course, I'm still of the impression that we'll receive scythes as a gathering tool :P

Forgive me for dragging WoW into a Final Fantasy forum, but a friend of mine that was a level 80 Night Elf Hunter had a scythe that was classified as a polearm. I could see Lancers getting some type of scythe, although Horticulturalist would indeed be amusing.

In order to unlock the Scythe as a useable weapon you'll have to go on a fetch quest for a NPC named Magus Trigger.
That's all I know cause I haven't found his location, it's like I'm always trying to find him at the wrong time :)~

Unfortunately, at this point Scythe seems to be one of the least likely weapons to make an appearance. That could easily change, but thus far there's a greater indication that they'll have weapons like whips and the bo staff.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Well that's because in real life, weaponized scythes had the blades put on end, effectively making them polearms. FFXI notwithstanding, the tradition form of the scythe, with the blade perpendicular to the shaft, makes a poor weapon.

I searched the dats and it says hes located in an elusive area called Chrono Break. If you ever find this location, please let the rest of us know.

I'm almost positive I read somewhere that scythes will be in the game later on as their own class. It was vague, but from an interview. I really wish I could find it, sorry.

Having said that, I don't like scythes but I'm crossing my fingers for you guys!

ahhh here it is.

A: I cannot tell you when, but those weapons will definitely appear in FFXIV. As for which classes they will be associated with, I'll have to ask you to wait and see.

Typical SE answer, but at least they guaranteed it's in there for ya.

LOL, I love it.

Seriously, from what I read and understand of the armory system it's not so much a class but more like what abilities will Scythe have. From there you mix and match to make your own Duskwight Elezen named Magus.

Botanists do use a scythe, but not as a weapon. And yes, I believe it is actually called a scythe, rather than sickle (not 100% on that though).
