Once I get out today to run my errands, I'm going to head over to one of the Gamestops here in town and pre order the CE. I'm hoping one of them will have a Midnight sale.

I preordered the regular edition. Besides the bonus item, the security token is another thing caught my eye from the collector edition, so I asked the sales from gamestop if the regular edition comes with a security token as well, and she said YES...I'm not sure how accurate she is, but just in case it doesn't, I wanna ask the people who have the token that where did you get it?

As for the bonus item, I personally prefer the goggle more than the helm, since I'm not a hardcore player, I could imagine myself sitting in town crafting more often than going out to events that require long hours of participation.

Well, according to the official website, the token only comes with the Collectors edition. I have a token already from playing XI but for the life of me, I can't remember if I ordered it directly thru the POL client or thru SE's FFXI website.

Keep in mind that the goggles, according to Tanaka will probably only be useful during the very early stages of your characters growth.

Thanks Osarion for the info...so it seems like I'm not getting a token from the regular edition =( Anyone else may have an idea where to get the token?

The way I see the goggle is that I'm not sure how much faster it'll help on lvling skills, but even if it's just 1% faster, it's still 1% faster. Also, I think the goggle would be a head gear, so in terms of lvling up, I would probably change to a higher lvl helm with better stats once I reach higher lvl. However, in terms of crafting skill, if the goggle would increase the xp I got by 1%, then I'm still lvling up 1% faster than others at each lvl. And I can wear the goggle whenever I'm crafting in town. As for the Onion Helm, I would expect to change to a higher lvl helm once I got a better stats one. However, in another post a person suggested that even in endgame content, we can use a macro to switch the helm to the Onion Helm right before dying to lower the death penalty, in that case, then the Onion Helm does have its inreplacable value.

I preordered the CE! I can't play 24/7 when it's first out so I need the extra week to stay competitive level-wise :) (though I know most others will get that too... lol. Still, some won't!)

Plus i just enjoy having CE editions of my favorite games - which really are so few that it's not a big deal from a financial standpoint. Also, I like the CE cover artwork better, and with my J-music hobby that's a big deal as well, so I'm used to it. :)

I think I'm actually going to hold off on PC upgrades until I've fired up the game to see how it runs... According to the benchmark I should be able to at least run it, and if I want an improvement later I can always do it then. :) Unless the mood strikes me before of course, lol.

I pre-ordered mine last weekend, all paid and ready to go :D

I got Standard cause there is no real point in getting Collection edition for me and my husband, we won't be able to play the whole pre-release 7 days, so, no point paying 60$ (for both games) extra.

CE from Amazon.
Ordered it because of the security token and the 7 days earlier play time.

By whatever reason, the normal edition item (the glasses) sounds more attractive than the helm. More skill up? Sounds like a really useful item. The helm is more stylish thou.

At the end both items will probably be trash... really, most FFXI easter eggs items are for looks only.

I pre-ordered 2 copies of the standard edition from amazon, using 2 separate accounts (because it is limit one per account). I also didn't pay extra for the release day shipping, since I figure if I'm not going to be the first to get it, a couple of extra days doesn't matter anyway.

I pre ordered the Collector's Edition from the GameStop I usually bum at when work is slow. I also put in my leave for the 22nd-27th of Sep. I'd put in for a couple weeks but I have to save some for a cruise I ended up getting dragged into next year...

I hope you have a nice time. But there's good chance that the server might be unstable when it's first released to mass public. Not much fun if you take leave and end up waiting in queue to login...

Hmmm just remember, the release date could very easily be pushed back and you will end up with a vacation from the 22nd-27th, with nothing to do...

i pre-ordered 2 copies of the collectors edition and also will put in for vacation but prob the first or second week of October since they will most likely have alot of patches/server stability issues and what not at startup on the 22nd (if the date doesn't get pushed).

Oh I forgot to mention I pre-ordered the CE version. In fact I just canceled my pre-order from ebgames.com and pre-ordered it from amazon, because amazon was $4 cheaper on delivery and guarenteed to arrive at my house on 9/22. Not to mention on top of ebgames costing $4 more for shipping it says that it will ship on 9/22 and it says it takes a day to process and a day to deliver, so sounds like it was costing me $4 more to get it on 9/24 lol

It's alright, my sister started up this whole private trainer thing for all her friends. She usually spends most afternoons & evenings training or swimming with them. All I have to do is crank up the grill and open up the bar. Can make the most of my leave either way. Smiley: sly

Worst case I'll work on my platinum trophy in Stare Ocean: The Last Hope. I'm sure I still have a good 200+ hours to go on that.

I pre-ordered the regular version. Here it would be over $20 extra after the exchange rate and tax. I'm not really interested in anything the CE offers other than the 8 days earlier access, so I don't think 1 week earlier is worth an extra $20+.

Plus I prefer the goggles to onion helm :)

I pre-ordered from Electronics Boutique here in Australia.

Great thing about it is that we can buy on 22 September same as the US but we are 15 hours ahead (depending on timezone). That means I'll be in and playing first! Yay.

Happened with Aion as well. When I logged in, the world was almost empty - hilarious!

Swapped annual leave, so got 2 weeks off from the 26th.

Civilization V is out the same week too.....my G/F gonna be rather annoyed.

I hope they dispatch TO ARRIVE 22nd and not ON 22nd. The collectors edition here has a tumbler instead of the US edition which has some kind of mail in voucher. Anyone know of any other CE and how they differ?

Hexid, You might want to throw the $10 down, you can always cancel it later if you wish. Up here in Central Massachusetts sometimes we get 1 or 2 extra CEs, sometimes we only get *exactly* as many CE's as ordered. We had NO extra bioshock 2 or MAss Effect 2 CE's, If we ever need to do an exchange for a customer it's a horrible headache where we gotta email corporate and inventory request and make the customer wait 3 days. I'm sure it could vary from district to district though, and for like record of Agarest wars we got like 4 extra...

Besides pre-orders help your friend manager out as the company constantly rides our ***** to secure numbers, the pressure can get insane! Otherwise, I like working at Gamestop.
