I had just about given up hope, before I read this. This and someone telling me to go to portfoward.com.

The client was downloading the beta EXTREMELY slow. I was gonna have to wait up to 76 hours, and it seemed to go slower than that even. Well I finally decided to go to this portfoward.com. It was super easy to follow and I ended up having my 'time remaining' jump down to 3 hours.

Everyone. This WILL solve your problems of the client's slow download speed.

PORTFOWARD.COM and then foward those ports that are listed in the second post.

Has anyone had an issue where after dl and install, click on beta and it won't run? I ran the alpha fine, but once I double click on the beta version, it opens to a black screen and stops working?

I'm not sure why/how, but when I installed it, it forwarded the ports automatically. Same for Starcraft II as well. Maybe I just have an awesome router or something.

Since it's a P2P downloader, it will likely not download as fast in the middle of the night or early in the morning when no one is online. It should work a lot better after the game goes live when people are logged in 24/7.

Although I do wonder, with .dat swaps and a P2P downloader, if it's possible to end up with other people's .dat swapped files by accident. One of these days I will log on and my moogle will have a ***** or something...

Yeah the main problem is that people only upload WHILE downloading. At least on other clients you have the option to let it keep uploading to help everyone.

I mean what would that hurt? I would personally let it upload a minimum of 25kb all day every day just to help out. I don't know i'm an out of the box thinker.

Also make sure your IP still coincides with the open ports on the router. I know for my router i can't do IP reservation and when my PC renews it IP sometimes i'm no longer on the one with the open ports... bleh

Can someone explain to me what port forwarding means? Those numbers don't mean anything to me. I've never heard of port forwarding and the update is going so slow I don't know what to do. I left the update running last night when I slept and it was only 8% done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

for those of you who really dont want to/know how to port forward, this link gives a good walkthrough on how to use utorrent (or a program like it) to bypass the SE downloader.
http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/446/view/forums/post/3716821#3716821

I just did it and im getting speeds of 200 to 600 kb/s.

I'm not sure why everyone port forwards all those ports. You only need to forward the one that is configured in your config menu.

Now does anybody know if there's a way to change the built-in client so it doesn't completely saturate my upstream and thus kill the download capability on my cable modem?

If not, I'm gonna have to just leach this thing down.
