PS3 vs PC counterpart survey Follow

Can someone please indulge me with an answer to this question. What "estimated" score would the PS3 version have if you compared it to a PC of similar specs? For example, you'll be locked in at 720res and let's leave on ALL graphic effects for the sake of the comparison. As for me personally, I believe the PS3 would benchmark on par to a 4500-5000 PC score. So let's use that benchmark for our example here. Next we'll purposely enter the most conjested area(graphic settings maxed) of the game and see what the frame rates look like. Does everyone believe the PS3 and PC counterpart would perform the same and why? If the PC performs the same or better, how much would you expect to pay for it? Parts or pre-built?

The most important thing to remember here is that the purpose of this test is to rank the cost/performance ratio out of both platforms. We already know that the PS3 has a few advantages with the optimized setting and lack of an OS. We also know we can surpass the PS3's performance by dumping more money into our PC. All I'm interested in learning is which system in your opinion would be the best choice for the middle of the road benchmark. The major factors here are cost so the PC system would have to be comparable in price to the PS3 price point. If you don't believe the PS3 would rank at least a 4000 on a benchmark compared to the PC users who have posted on the net, let me know that too. I realize some people will think this comparison is apples and oranges and not exact science. So with all that being said, here we go.

If you directly compared the performance of a PS3's framerate/res/etc benchmark, what score would you it give it and why?

Note: Benefits of a PC costing more because it does more than play games is not a valid argument because most of us already have PC's for that purpose. The upgrades are sorely for FFXIV so let's get that understood now.

I'm just going to give it a wild guess based on nothing at all and say it would probably perform identical to a PC scoring 5000 on the benchmark on low.

[3000-4499] Fairly High Performance
Capable of running the game on default settings. Consider switching to a higher resolution depending on performance.
[2500-2999] Standard Performance
Capable of running the game on default settings.
My guess is it would fall somewhere in that range. My plan is, hope it is at least playable on my existing laptop on low settings, get a PS3 to upgrade in March (maybe sooner for the blu-ray), then maybe in a couple years build a new PC.

I don't think it's possible to make an accurate guess without setting a PS3 and a PC next to each other playing the game, and tweak the graphics on the PC until it looks like the PS3. And even then, you're still eyeballing it.

Mikhalia: and FWIW, my posts are 95% helpful, informative, or funny.
Mikhalia: only 5% or less of my posts are utter crap.

depends i bet right now the ps3 version either plays incredibly horrible or not at all. Considering it was delayed due to system limitations...

I think i agree though it would be about 5000ish on the score when it comes out. The only difference however is you won't get quite as much drops due to lots of stuff happening like you would for the PC. Really is all speculation though but in the long run ps3 will always be inferior.
