Does anyone know if FFXIV RTM will support dual GPU (Radeon 5970) or SLI or Crossfire?

I would really like to get my PC ordered ... it's frustrating they haven't announced any news about this. The price between the cards is neglible, but seems like the GTX 480 does better on the benchmarks than the 5970 since the benchmark only supports 1 GPU. Actually seemed like the 5870 did the best going by this thread: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1526223

I dunno what to do?!?!!?!???!??!?!?!??!?!!!

As i said in another topic:

SE put up the 'high' system requirements because it wants the game (read engine) last for a long time coming.
Excluding multi GPU support in the engine sounds not very logical to me.

Hope i can use the full potential of my ATI Radeon HD5970 :)

Personally i would prefer the HD5870 over the GTX480. GTX480 got some serious issues with FFXIV right now and even if those are solved there is still the fact that the GTX480 is quite expensive and runs insanely hot.

That puts it in good perspective. I think I'll build it with the 5970. Worst case, I'll yank it and sell it on ebay and get a 5870. But that would make me a sad little gamer. Not to mention cost me an extra several hundred bucks...

I know I'm dreaming big that this game would support Eyefinity lmao.

I'd recommend going with a 5870 and an 850+ PSU. On a single card the 5870 should get the best or near best performance, and the beefier PSU means you can add a second one in the future when they drop in price. That way you don't have to spend a fortune right now and can ensure your build remains valid for several years.

I would imagine that sli/crossfire is indeed enabled on the game. Here are a couple reasons why:

1. The 3d surround setup from nvidia at E3 was definately SLI since you need 2 video cards just to do any kind of nvsurround. Also keep in mind surround cuts fps in half usually and then again in half with 3d. Would make it pretty bad at 5760x1080 with 3d on 1 card.

2. I ran the benchmark with 2 corei7 machines. One has 2 gtx275's and the other 2 gtx470's. I used the rename trick to force sli on the bench and indeed watched both gpu's around 85-99% usage almost doubling my score.

Drivers definately need work on the nvidia side considering the ati dominance in this benchmark. This could change at or near release.

maybe this is a stupid question but...

Is it possible to run two different GPU (example 1x5770, 1x5870).

The reason I'm asking is I'm planning on buying a mobo with 2 x16 slots but i have enough for only one GPU (5770). I was planning on buying another GPu later on. Would it be worth it?

why are there always idiots spamming the heat issue with 480gtx when its not even true. Stop flaming because you read a few comments about it being hot from people that run it in a medium tower.

The 480gtx doesn't have heat issues unless your brainless and use it in a small/midtower case.

But lets X those fingers for SLI/crossfire SUPPORT! :D

This. If they're demoing the game on three monitors, I'd say that's a good indicator that there should be SLI/crossfire support

They'd be silly not to support it, seems to me.
