I'm hoping one of you knowledgeable players will be able to clarify how the Guildleves will work.

From what I've read so far, this is what I understand: Certain NPC's will give you Guildleves (quests) to go out and enter certain areas, complete certain tasks, kill mobs, etc.. in exchange, you get experience points and certain rewards items.

Upon examining the Guildleve, there will be choices of solo mode, which will give me good rewards etc.. BUT, if I choose to take along a group of friends to conquer this quest.. it'll not only be harder to complete, but the rewards will be MUCH better! Thus pacifying both the casual and more hard core players.

If this is wrong in any way, please feel free to correct me!

Also, will each person involved have a choice of items to choose from for completing quests? That system is so much nicer than having a group go out again and again, and only having one item drop like in FFXI.

Thank you all for your invaluable input... I love reading these boards! :)

I believe that's the long and short of it. They don't seem to really differ in any meaningful way from regular ol' quests as far as I can tell. I'm afraid someone else will have to answer your second question; I'm not aware of any official word on that myself.

The follow content is only based upon my personal understanding of the Guildleves, please forgive me if it's not correct.

To my understanding, Guildleves are metal plates, acting like a key item for different purposes. For example, there maybe a house in a town that players are not allow to go inside unless you have some sort of "pass". So when you go to an NPC on the other side of the town and accept a quest, the NPC then grants you a Guildleve (a piece of metal item which will be shown in your key item list), with this Guildleve, you can get inside the house and find some specific information about the quest mob or maybe you can buy an item from one of the vendors inside the house, which is required for summoning the quest mob out that are not being sold anywhere else. So after you completed the quest and returned to the quest giver NPC, you earned some xp and rewards, and you can also keep the Guildleve so you can reenter the house anytime. When you reenter the house after completing the quest, you can buy more stuff from other vendors in the house now.

I'm very curious about if they will be repeatable. Some are and some aren't? A respawn time limit?

If they are all repeatable, will a select few become The Best?

If the are not repeatable, you wouldn't want to waste a Really Good One doing it solo when the party reward is so much higher. I'm picturing people shouting "Come join me, I have X ready to go."

Maybe they will be once a day? So you would just hit your favorites each day.

Balance is going to be the key here, so you don't have everyone trying to do the same stuff.

Interesting point. Maybe we can see the reward for solo and group, then we can decide which way we'll go? I would hope the reward is a one time thing, which means you can only get that reward the first time you complete it. Then if you do the quest again, you'll get some new rewards. By new rewards, I mean something that's less valuable than the first reward. So if you can get a piece of gear from the first time reward, then when you do it again, you can get some materials that can be used for certain crafting jobs or certain amount of exp or money. Of course, there should be a limitation per day(s) on those repeatable quests.

I just hope rep isn't such a disgusting/expensive grind this time. Ugh. I do not want to be doing the equivalent of trading cabbages/cornets EVER AGAIN. I want quests to be fun - not a horrible nightmare.

I think Guildleves also give you other "boosts" like permission to use certain fast travel services and such, which makes me SUPER curious if we get to keep them after, can you just accumulate a collection and select your active one? It'd be nice to keep access to the "exclusive" zones after as I bet there will be good gathering there.
