I have a Acer ax3200-u3600a. 2.1 triple core phenom. I need to upgrade my video card to play. My issue is this is a "small"or"slimline" tower. With an amazing* 220watt power supply :(
What "low profile" card would be the best for this situation. As I am buying a house and paying for my wedding within the next month I can not buy/build a new PC anytime before the game comes out.

Buy a new computer with the money you get from taking back half of the gifts from the reception because I really don't see you playing with that thing.

There are absolutely no slimline cards that will work with a 220W PSU that will provide reasonable performance, if it works at all.

Speaking as someone who is also saving for a wedding (April), I feel for you. I really do. But any money you invest into that system is money you're throwing away.

carby,
i feel for you,
i m also getting married next year and could not really afford to buy a new pc.
but my gf told me i could buy it because she knows I really want to play the game.

but anyway, since you are buying a new house and getting married, take advantage on that, and put the computer parts you want in your "New Egg Registry" or something so ppl can get you those when you have a housewarming or as wedding gifts , hahahhaa :D

I'm not a computer genius myself, as I am looking for help to build a new pc as well. but I think you better save the money on upgrading that computer. the small case and small P/S definitely need to go, plus a new video card. that is already 3-400 dollars already

Is this the official "Getting Married" thread of FFXIV main? And if so, will we all be playing XIV on our honeymoons?

Knowing my fiancee, she wouldn't object, either. We wanted to book a cruise for our honeymoon till we found out that they charge insane amounts for wifi, and even if we both limited ourselves to 1 hour per person per day each, that's still several hundred dollars extra.

We still haven't totally decided on our destination, but wherever it will be, it will have free wifi.

Ohhhh boy.. wait til you're actually married. Then your money really starts going out the window lol. Having someone to sleep next to every night doesn't hurt though right guys? ;)

Of course if you're engaged I assume you're already sort of living together doing the almost married life thing.

Anyway OP yeah they're right you're gonna have to get a new system. Check craigslist, sometimes people invest a bunch of money into building a rig and realize they can't afford their rent and try to pawn it off for $2-300 less than what it costs to build it.

I've been sharing my home with her for the past two and a half years. Might as well be married, so now we will be.

Also, how sad is it to pick up on someone selling something cheaply to pay their own bills in an effort to save money to pay your own?

The economy sucks ***.

Yeah it is a bummer but if no one buys the thing the guy loses his roof. His loss your gain as the saying goes. I've had to sell my things before to keep my apartment too, luckily I had friends who I basically pawned things to.

Honestly, I have an aspire X1200, a very small PC... and I've never used a low profile card. If you want to get creative, you can snip off the end piece, and it fits in perfectly. I did this, and just fabricated a little cover so parts weren't exposed. I just bought a bigger case to transfer into because I am getting too lazy to keep doing this when I upgrade, but it works, very well. I will take a couple pictures tomorrow and link them so you can see what I mean.

Sorry for the delay. The power has been out here for a couple of days. I ended up taking these pictures with my phone and a flashlight, so sorry for the quality. Took them to the library and edited them up using Paint... so my apologies for the craptastic diagrams, lol.

Lol, thank you.

I'd like to thank the shop I used to work at. Rigging one machine at a time!

You need to submit that **** to http://thereifixedit.com/

That is quite possibly one of the most hilarious pics I've seen in a while. Don't let anyone tell you you can't do something when you put your mind to it :)

Also took me a sec. I let a laugh out when I realized what I was looking at. Got a strange look from the Starbuck's clerk too...
