Buddy Pass Question for CEFollow

Dear all, I am ready to purchase CE for FF XIV.. However, I got a question regarding the buddy pass. Since I am planning to start playing FF XIV with my wife on debut, I'm just wondering if I need to get 2 copies of FF XIV, or I could just get one copy and let my wife use the buddy pass... Of course we're both gonna pay the monthly fee going forward.. It would be very helpful if anyone could answer my question, as it would be very stupid to pay additional for the game if the buddy pass work..

Thanks in advance~

As far as I know, SE hasn't officially said anything about it, so we can only make educated guesses.

I see this as being one of two things.

1. Extra free month for someone who signs up. Has to buy the software still.
2. Free registration key for your wife, who'd then install with your software. OR, download the client online?

I'd be more likely to believe it's 1.

I think it's more a combination of the two. You give them the buddy key and your copy of the software (unless they provide some way to download online), that gives them a period of time to try the game (usually 7-30 days), if the buddy wants to continue after the trial is over they have to buy a copy and their account gets upgraded from trial to full.

I could see your 1 if they won't be offering the free month with purchase of the game like every other MMO, which would be pretty lame.

Wow, I didn't think about this. I pre-ordered 2 copies of the SE of FFXIV, but I could have just gotten 1 copy of the CE if the buddy pass can be used as a full version.

Osarion is probably correct though, I don't think SE would want to give out a free copy of a brand new game with the collectors edition, when they could make more money by just making it a free trial.
