Thoughts about dumping money you don't have into a new system just for this game seem more & more rational with each passing day. And those thoughts evolve from a logical, budget-minded plan to going big with a 1.5-2k rig or more. You'll figure out how to pay for it later because anything worth doing is worth doing right...

On the other hand, I've intentionaly NOT thought of FFXIV, saving it for my "Drug-free Workplace" meeting in the morning. I plan to finally decide on my race/class/crafts during those 2 hours.

When you (I) sit here, waiting till 10am for Bestbuy to open, to go spend that money you (I) don't need to be spending on a new bigger power supply for your (my) rig in progress. Doing it while your (my) fiancee is sleeping, as to not hear the reasons not to purchase said item.

Also when you can't wait for the PS3 release, so you can take the HD5750 out of your wife's comp (cuz she'll be on the PS3) and crossfire it with your HD5770 for that extra 30% (?) increase. Maybe an i7-860, new case, more ram (is 4 GB enuff?)...

Picked it up at FFXIfest in Buffalo NY about a half dozen years ago. THAT trip is a story in itself, but I got to meet up with my shell leader @ the time, as well as some shellmates. About a dozen or so of us have stayed in contact, some of us banding together in WoW for awhile. . . and now we're all waiting to form up in XIV. WoW was all well and good, but I think we all miss the . . "epic" feel that FFXI seems to capture. While I could never see myself going back to XI at this point, I really REALLY miss that. You don't play FFXI, you EXPERIENCE it. And because of how XI was written, you usually experienced it with 5 other ppl, whether you wanted to or not ;) it makes it more than just a grind to the next plateau, it's . . well, epic.

LOL. . that was deep >< Sorry, got lost in the picture :P

It's not that I'm thinking about FFXIV too much. . . I'm just ready to come home. I have a feeling at least a few of you out there will understand exactly what I mean by that. And if ya don't. . .well. . I guess we're just different people ^^

Guilty of both of these. hehe

At first I was determined to not spend over $500 for an upgrade...but now it's looking to be easily over 1k. ; ;

I am guilty of many of these >.< but here is mine which is similar to alot..

Begin building behind the fiance's back.. knowing that they will find out anyway you tell them "oh by the way they had a sale on things so remember I was telling you a few months back I wanted to build a PC?", then letting them vent on you about not having the money and saying ok sorry hunny I won't buy no more. Then promise the build will take a year to complete because your going to buy piece by piece one every month. Getting them to agree with the year process. Then suddenly finding these crazy cant miss deals and buying them and re-explaining why you bought them. Your year process has now turned in to a month/2 month process. When the spouse is upset that you have just bought the best of almost everything, you then offer to buy them a desktop.

I was lucky and have the best fiance in the world that will play the game with me.. so the desktop I got her I had to make sure would run the game.. while they are 2 very different animals she will be able to play her games with max settings while being able to atleast play ffxiv with little to no lag on low..

Welcome to the dark side! Smiley: grin

I've taken up playing FF12 again. It's becoming one of my faves. Modern Warfare 2 always passes the time nicely as well. Oblivion too. Between waiting for certain sessions of a certain game to come, that is.
