Using this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125333

Benchmark barely gave me a better score than I had with my 8800GT (it was OMGROFLPWNAwesome 2 years ago...).

I think I need a new CPU. I'm running this crappy piece of crap (it was OMGROFLPWNAwesome 2 years ago...):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103249

Full setup:

AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor

GIGABYTE GV-N460OC-1GI GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ

OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2P800R22GK

ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

Anyway, even my 8800GT ran the beta (on my friend's account. I'm not in it. /sadpanda.) pretty decently. Little lag in town, but that's to be expected. 6 gigs of RAM so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm getting the impression that the processor is much more important than the video card, but we'll see how it goes as the launch date gets closer.

Hearing underwhelming things about the 460 in the beta-- I'd hold off on it until retail.

Generally the CPU is more important on lower settings, the GPU is more important on high settings.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

You're also looking at unoptimized drivers. The 460 (and NVidia as a whole) continues to get driver updates almost weekly. If they work out a few driver optimizations for the game, I'm sure you would see a jump.

Yep, and the game isn't optimized yet either. There's still a lot of programming junk to sort out before we REALLY know how Card X will handle the game. I wouldn't go making any big purchases just yet.

One would think that a company would first have the drivers setup before they slap their label on a game or a benchmarker.

Drivers often aren't updated until the game is released, and even sometimes well after there are tweaks for specific games. If you read the release notes of the nVidia releases, you'll see they're constantly tweaking for various games to get better performance.

I should also add that they do this because usually the game's code isn't finished, especially at this stage, and I'm sure it's easier to come up with finalized drivers once the code itself is finalized.

As you would expect a game to come out fully patched and bug free right :).

That last I checked, I didn't have any expectations of a bug free game. I was discussing about NVIDIA, their advertising and the lack of a beta driver candidate which will back up their logo on the benchmarker.

I guess I am missing the point of the post. From what I see your saying they have no driver to play the game. But its obvious they have something working or no one could play the game with their video card. It seemed to me that you were commenting on Nvidia updating their software as if it was a bad thing.

The point of this post is to find out if anyone is using an overclocked 460 in the beta, and how it performs. Yes we all know drivers will be updated for the game shortly after release. This is just to get a general idea.....like a benchmark lol

I got my 460 a few days ago and I'm very impressed, beta runs perfectly for me now on max graphic settings, as before with my 8600 card the game was barely playable in anything but the lowest settings.

My benchmark for old card was in the low 2000's, New card 8000's, New card and overclocked scored in 11000's. You can get a lot from overclocking the 460, however, I ran the game in both overclocked and regular settings and didn't notice much of a difference.

You scored an 1100 with a 460? What CPU do you have? I have a 470 and didn't score even close to that and I have it overclocked as well.

I saw a video of someone with a 4k best you can buy computer with 2 GTX480's that only scored a 10k. I would be interested to know how you scored an 11k.

I scored a 5100 on low settings with a 470 oc'd to 800mhz stock its at 600mhz. It has 1.2Gigs of ram and its 320 Bit. I have an AMD 965 quad core OC'd to 4.0 ghz. At high settings I scored a 4100.

I find this hard to believe. People with $6,000 PCs aren't hitting anywhere near those numbers.

Technically, revealing the existence or terms of the NDA violates the NDA. Just stay in your home, and Square will come and take you to their undisclosed location. I'm told there will be cake.

i fined it hard to believe that a 460 would do better than a 470 and even a 480 in sli, you have 460 oc on SLI and you managed to make the BM read SLI?
is your cpu core i7 980?

I also find this hard to believe. Over 11,000 on low? You must have an i7 980X (or some other crazy CPU) overclocked to 5.2Ghz or something.

Btw, when you say the game runs perfectly on max settings, which resolution are you playing on? And by max settings, does that include x8 AA and AO on?

Technically, since I'm not in the beta, I am not bound by the terms of the NDA, including acknowledging terms of the NDA :)

Also, Portal ftw.
