Has anyone confirmed Appearance armor slots?

Lets be honest you all know you loved subligar in FFXI and wish you could use it all the time, but there was just so much better armor. If only there was a slot for appearance....

I really hope there is plans for this feature, I hate the idea of everyone looking the same because they all have the same new fad armor.

with FFXIV's addition of dyeing, and the much larger variety in the character creation, we won't have to worry about clones running around nearly as much as in XI.

I'd like for there to be an appearance slot when the game releases too though.

I played Aion for a few months (did that ever get boring fast), it had a cool feature that I'd love to keep seeing MMOs implement

The ability to re-model your visible equipment.

The way this worked was:
You took a piece of gear you liked the look of (dyeing was also possible)
You take a piece of gear you have to wear (because good stats are good I'm told)
Feed them both to an NPC
Voila! Your good gear looks like your old gear and still has all its stats.

Obviously there were some unique pieces that couldn't be remodeled or used for remodeling, but it wasn't a very large set of items.

They also augmented this system by having "costume vendors" that sold full-body outfits that looked like things, like formal attire, christmas outfits, kimonos, etc, that you could take and apply the model to your body-slot item and get the entire costume effect on a piece of gear.

Er. Well, fashion is pain.

And—we can conclude based off this maxim—l33t is pain as well.

Mismatch in glory, comrades!

(But seriously: I think an appearance slot is being nitpicky. Though I can understand the want.)

I'll be happy either way... whether I can look awesome, or walk proudly in my matching armor, pants, helmet, and bright pink boots of doom!

I don't really want endgame tanks and DD to be wearing beginner subligars or swimwear with endgame stats... just my preference.

Endgame gear with options for different colors, and your guild's coat of arms/insignias, etc would be enough to set everyone apart.

Women & children ran in fear of the galka in subligar, if I can find one I'll be sure to sport it with the onion helm early on. I like the idea of a bit of personalizing with the dyes & such. People love that stuff. I made a ton of money in Fable2 when I found out lazy people would pay ridiculous amounts for the rare dyes.

They should just do it like Everquest 2. Separate appearance slots available to toss gear in.
