How many of you are or were ffxi players? If so post when you started and when you quit.

I still play ffxi and I started NA PS2 release. And I will be moving to FFXIV on sept 22. =)

Doesn't have when they quit, but there is a list of players and servers.

I'm still playing atm. I'm on Quatz server and the name Frebaut. It's still fun to play and always meeting new people. I'm just wondering what the game will be like once FFXIV gets up and running, I'll say like a desert...BERIN

I started playing not long after release in the UK. I can't remember how long I played for, but I quit because of it being impossible to do anything solo.

I played from the X-box 360 release until sept of last year. I was on the Caitsith server. I had a ton of fun and met a number of awesome people who I'd love to see again in FFXIV. I quit due to time restraints. I'm hoping that what has been said about being able to log in for about an hour and still do "stuff" is true. Cause I can pull that off during the week a couple of nights and then go for mini-marathons on the weekends.

Character and server in sig. Quit earlier this year due to endgame burnout and (lack of) anticipation for the level cap increase. I've been looking forward to XIV since it was announced.

Started playing in April of 04. First MMO, got addicted and played hardcore up until summer of 2006. Quit playing, uninstalled, broke discs took a three year break and came back in April of 2009. Tried to give the game an honest go with all the new additions and expansions but it was hard to get back in the groove of things. Played off and on again for a time before I finally called it quits a month or so ago. Done for good this time.

Anxiously awaiting PS3 release in March of next year.

Played for about 3~4 years, level 75 BLM taru and quite a bit of endgame content. Took a good long break when the kids (triplets) were born. No time for EXP parties or events. I did solo a DRK/WHM to 45 - incredible fun, in between bottles and diapers x3.

With the 360 release I started a Galka. Took it to 75 SAM with all the relevant subjobs. SAM/DNC was the most fun - soloing Fields of Valor (the precursor to Guildleves, it seems) and a lot of Assaults in the Tower (with /NIN). So another year or two.

For some reason the FFXI level cap raise is not nearly as exciting as FFXIV. Quests that can be completed for *some* advancement in 30mins~1hour are exactly what I'll have time for each day.

Originally started about a year or so before CoP came out. . I can't remember what year that was.

It was all my wife's [then GFs] fault. I had rehabilitated, no more gaming, and one day in Wal Mart she exclaims "Ooooh, I wanna play this, will you play it with me. . PPLLEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSEEEEEEEEE"

At the time I swore I'd never pay a monthly fee for a game I already paid $50 for, but I was young and in love [read: Gettin' lots] I warned her that I set this aside once, and if I opened the door again I'd most likely never stop. I talked of 5-6 hour gaming binges, and getting so caught up in gaming that life came 2nd. She didn't care.

And on that day did lightning split asunder the heavens and cleave the earth with it's terrible might. From the darkness born in the sudden afterimage of lightning, through the smoke and rain. . on this day was Seneleron born.

He lies now in torpor, and has for 3 years. . dreamwalking through other MMOs with other names, in other forms, he waits for the day he will awaken in a new world, with new arts of dark destruction to conjure and new challenges to overcome. His sleep has become restless, he knows it is coming. The siren call sings out from the mist. .stirs the blood and beckons towards the coming dawn.

I was gonna say marry her, but you already did. Good man.

A good spouse will help you kick an addiction. A better one will get addicted with you.

I started a year or two after NA release, and I quit for real probably a few months after the newest expansion. I loved playing FF XI but the magic just wore off I guess. Before I quit quit I was taking longer and longer "breaks" from playing. FF XIV is going to be the first MMO I've played since launch so I'm hoping that experience will bring something new to the table that I haven't had before.

I played a little after the ps2 release for maybe 8-10months. I was a dragoon, and it seemed absolutely no one wanted one for parties. At the time, I guess people said they sucked? But I loved the class. Got to 55-ish, and got walled by never getting parties and quit.

I started playing before the NA version came out...god how many years has it been? I feel old...But anyway, I have a tendency to go on long hiatus once every so often, and the latest episode was from fall of last year til present. So currently I only have one job at 75, and never finished any of the expansion pack missions...You could say I am the most hardcore casual player. :D But I am planning to go back some time before FFXIV launch so I can reconnect with my old LS friends and maybe go to the same server together.

I played on the PS2 from it's launch for about a year. I had loads of fun and made many wonderful friends. I got myself into an outstanding linkshell full of amazing people. I've played EQOA, FFXI, WoW, and PWI, but of all of them the only one I still think about with longing is FFXI.

I particularly enjoyed hunting some of the lesser NMs. Spiny Spipi, Crypt Ghost, Valkurm Emperor, Jaggedy_Eared Jack, and the Doppelganger twins being among them. Mee Deggi the Punisher will always hold a special place in the darkest part of my heart, man I loved to hate him.

My girlfriend, now my wife, played my character a little bit here and there but didn't really get into it big. I wasn't as lucky as seneleron that time, but I'm holding out hope for this one. Hoping I can get her as addicted as I'm sure I'll be. Heck, if the game has the longevity that I'm hoping for maybe our three children will join the madness when they're a little bigger. We'll have our own static haha.

Here's to a wonderful experience with many wonderful people. *cheers*

I was a long time player. I left and came back a few times. I really liked some of the changes and the new jobs like BLU and PUP. But I was also upset seeing some familiar names that sold their accounts.

Played from about 2004 to 2007 and loved it early on but in the end was frustrated. Moved in with my girlfriend (now wife) and was unable to play the requisite 10 hours at a time to make it worthwhile, the game did not scale to 2 or 3 hour chunks which was all I had.

Loved it, loved the series and am looking forward to FFXIV in the hope that there is always something to do even if I just have a couple of hours.

Played on Shiva - name Hallie!

Reisea from Unicorn server.

I started in 04 and quit about 4 months after that past Vandiel DLC came out (Sorry I don't remember the name) due to hard times. I'll be on FFXIV the 22 also.

That NM was pure evil, I could've opened up my own Impact Knuckles shop, thank goodness they atleast NPC'd for a decent amount. Eff those kotes...

Anyway, I started late like in 05 I think, played a few years, quit, got that feeling again and couldn't resist coming back for about another year. Guess I officially got out early last year.

Wife and I started in December 2005, we still play today and will probably still play after 14 release. I don't think I will stop playing till they shut the servers down...

I joined around NA PC release - played for about 3 months on my roomie's PC - then he moved away so I couldn't play anymore.

Then I played again starting in 2008? I dunno exactly when. Played till January of this year... complicated stuff with who was paying for it (I don't use credit cards - so my roomie was using his cc for me and I was paying him cash.)

I liked it, and I soloed a lot especially with fields of valour

I started on the PS2, and switched to the 360 after that came out. Quit shortly before the wings of the goddess thing came out. All in all I think I played for around 3+ years with a couple breaks for summers, save for logging in a bit to craft and say hi to the LS now and then.

Been without an MMO for a while now. A couple of my friends got me into WoW for a short while but I didn't really care for it that much, and then they quit so I bailed on it lol.

Can't wait to play FFXIV. :3
