***REPOST*** STUDIO XPS 16 - FF XIV Benchmark - HELP PLEASE!Follow

Re posting due to a misunderstanding.

When running the FF XIV benchmark I get a score of 1900 +/- on low res and a score of 1100 +/- on high res.

Here are my system specs:
- Intel Quad Core i7 720 QM
- 8 Gigabytes of DDR3 Ram
- ATI Radeon Mobility 5730 - 1 Gig
- Windows 7 Premium - 64 bit

Maybe I have no idea what I am talking about, but does anyone know why I am getting such low scores? I know that my video card is mid table for laptops but seriously, only 1900 on low res?

Somebody mentioned overclocking? I am not Mr. Computer but can you even overclock a laptop? Also somebody mentioned what is my bottlekneck? Well I am assuming they mean what is slowing my laptop down. That is exactly what I am trying to figure out.

Any ideas, comments or help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

your bottle neck is the graphics card, which cannot be upgraded in a laptop. There are a couple of external GPU's...ViDock being one I remember off the top of my head that are suppose to help improve laptop performance...either way, laptops are just not at the computing power needed for this game on high settings just yet (unless you feel like spending 3500+).

Can we just ban people who make their own "help me with my system" threads?

I'm totally serious.

Karl,

Sorry to ruin your day with a help me post. I am sorry I don't have your computer knowledge and superior life skills. My humblest apologies for ruining your night and posting a question on this forum for help as it obviously took a lot of effort and time for you to make your reply and bring your life to a crashing halt. I will never bother you again. I'm totally serious.

Burtonsnow,

I understand that my video card is a bottle neck in that it isn't high end to achieve a score of 3500 +. However, doesn't anyone think that my score is significantly low for the specs of my system?
Including the mid range video card?

If you were using a desktop PC with a 5730 yes I would be concerned about your score, but seeing as how you posses the mobile version of the 5730 your score seems to accurately represent it's ability to run the game. Run both benchmarks while running monitoring programs to see if GPU/CPU load reach 100% and you will better be able to tell what is holding you back.

I'm sitting here sipping a beer and relaxing, so nothing you can say or do is going to ruin my night at this point. But there are already numerous threads dedicated to people asking questions about their hardware, the benchmark, etc and you could have easily posted in those threads. If dozens of other people can suck it up and ask for help in the appropriate thread, why can't you?

Just a suggestion, but you could have contributed to the benchmark thread instead of making your own. I think that's why people are turned off by your post.

1) There is a sticky. It was created for threads like these. You are not a unique and special snowflake.

2) If you -had- read the sticky (or any of the other threads on laptops who -also- failed to use the sticky), you would have noticed a common thread: laptops perform HORRIBLY. It takes a really high end laptop to clear 3000 on low. Your score is probably HIGHER than what I would have expected it to be. With a laptop running a mobility 57XX series, I probably would have anticipated 1400-1500. That you got a 1900, you should count yourself lucky.

Please fill out the following sheet, checking off TWO or fewer boxes. Do not check all three.

[_] "I want to spend -$1500 OR LESS- on my computer"
[_] "I want a laptop"
[_] "I want a computer that will play FFXIV well."
