I put this in the feedback forum, but it's not so busy in there.

So I thought I'd pop this in the main forum to hear your views. What do you think?

Quote:
So, in FFXI there are Aetherytes that players can teleport to at anytime.

(Not sure of the specifics, like if you have to have visited it before or have enogh amima to do it.)

And also there are Aetherial nodes, that pop up after a Guild Leve has been completed.

My thought was it would be a great idea if when someone decided to create a party they could invite party members from anywhere in the world and then drop an "Aetherial node", then any party member, wherever they maybe, can choose to teleport to that aetherial node and be with the party straight away!

Would save the trouble of having to find a way to get to the party, you get an invite, accept, then teleport right there!

Hmm, you have a point there.

It's a shame as it could be a good thing. But I agree these things can easily be exploited.

From recent info it seems like they have to be on the same map to join party though.

it's sounding more and more like the leves will be the key to party play, I just hope this doesn't turn around and bite us in the but.

I mean will parties just be groups of people running around looking for the leve mobs? no camps? no pull backs? and when leaders look for members will they be focused on finding people with leves to use?

All of the above.

There's no ability to regenerate MP by sitting in one place, so there's no real reason to have a "camp" at all. I'm afraid it may cut down on the opportunities to socialize and/or take a quick bio break between pulls, but that's what it looks like.

I like to think it takes skill and timing to be a good player in XI, and hope its the same in XIV so less social chat in a party isn't a bad thing at all

For a game thats supposed to be tactical, not having the party be able to communicate isnt a good thing either.

Well I hope it's not really needed. In FFXI this type of gameplay didn't really work that well a lot of the time, If FFXIV is built around this concept then I trust they'll make it work.

What raises my eyebrow though is info posted in another topic in the general forums about only being able to take one guildleve every other day. Is that rl day or in game day. I hope it's the latter.

Yeah, thats only once per guildleve tho, not 1 guildleve total.

the info out there suggests a cooldown time to get a finished guildleve again - but by release I bet there will be a ton of guildleves so it shouldn't be a problem - and only one party member needs to have a guildleve for everyone in the party to use it. The cooldown just makes partying more attractive because you can get more leves by teaming up then by playing alone. It gives people an incentive to do the leves on harder levels with more people.

For the same reason as the OP, I'm moving my post here. xD

"Aetherytes most likely will only be accessible after visting them. And Aetherial nodes apparently just let you turn in your quest and teleport back to the nearest Aetheryte.

I like the idea of being able to summon a party member, but I don't think there would be much point in summoning someone AFTER you complete a guildleve. ;] If anything, the Aetheryte would be used for summoning. After all, that is where you activate your Levequests."
