The first two links don't exist.

At any rate this post seems to be about FFXI so it's in the wrong place.

The first two links are fine, they're just broken by the end parenthesis.

http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/guide/development/vt/backnumber/index.html
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/guide/development/vt2/backnumber/index.html

The third link looks fine, it's kinda amusing.

Go ahead and click away.

I don't speak Japanese, but I'll try to modify the grammar to make it more intelligible:

""FFXIV SANDBOX CLUB (Japanese title: Sunabagumi)"
is an awesome group intended for the following people:

1.I was not selected for the Beta (and I'm angry about it)
2.I envy PC players because I am going to be on PS3.
3.I'm looking forward to playing FFXIV :-)

It looks like it's a Japanese group basically talking about the main three things we are; people who weren't selected for beta that want to play, people who are annoyed about the early PC launch, and people who are just looking forward to XIV in general. As best as I can tell, they made an English page to attempt to draw the attention of any NA/EU players who don't speak Japanese to join their group/website.

The name "Sandbox Club", as near as I can tell, is an allusion to the concept of people playing in a sandbox (basically, trying to find things to do to occupy their time) in lieu of being able to play XIV.

The purpose of the links to the FFXI Tribune is because the OP (Mizakura of Quezacotl (sp) server), who is the admin of the site they posted, was a contributing writer to the FFXI Tribune.

I love the idea of bringing JP and NA together, but the site's all in Japanese. I can't navigate without blind clicking.

Lol... I'm not sure if that all translated exactly the way they meant it. But yeah it seems that they are just eager to play FFXIV as much as anyone else. :)

Well, I'm sure plenty of NA players are looking forward to playing with our JP friends just as much, though I don't think I will be building a miqo'te in the sand. Nice to see some enthusiasm though. xD

If this person is working for the Tribune, I'd love to score a small interview with him/her. I sent the responce twice, once in english and another in Japanese. The Japanese translation was through bablefish, so I'm not sure how clear it was, though I'm sure they got the message...in a way.

No responce back so far.

Whoa, Go Futzbucket! :P I, myself, am truly confused however. No idea what all this is. xD Just curious and interested.

..Sandbox T-Shirts and window stickers? Haha I'm not yet proud enough of my FFXIV obsession.

Did you see the pic where they got their symbol advertised in dowtown Tokyo? Sure, it could all be fake, but...well, I'll just say I think it's worth checking out. If it's bogus, nothing lost.

It could all be a sales thing, like this person is trying to make us think this is huge in Japan and we'll all start buying his shirts. At least, that's my fear. I'm hoping this is, at least, a legitimate attempt to make friends.

I have to say that, if this is legit, that he came to us. I've been looking around and we do seem the kindest, charismatic, and knowledgeable of the sites. If we keep this pace up we could very well cement a reputation as being the place to go for FFXIV info.

What can I say? You all rock.

Ha, I just went back and saw the downtown Tokyo picture. Don't know what to think about it, but like you say, sure can't hurt to be nice to them and ask a few questions. :]

Hmm...
Definitely wouldn't mind having this site's reputation boosted; we do seem to contain some awesome people. xD

Such is the biggest downside of not being bilingual: the fact that you miss out on a lot of potential acquaintances and friends.

True, but you also miss out on meeting all the jerks and weirdos from other cultures too. I know enough of several languages to entertain myself at the bar but avoid the hassle of true conversation. Beer is the ultimate ice breaker anyways.
