In xi people from San d oria and Bastok met easily in the dunes around level 10, but people starting in Windurst (as their first job, obvioulsy not people with airship passes already) were kinda cut off from that unless they walked very far. I don't know if it was really an issue to people who started in Windurst as I had started in Bastok, but from my point of view it seemed to affect it enough, so i'm wondering if people think anything similar will happen with the three starting cities in xiv? Like if one will be somewhat too far from a good area towards the beginning where the other two cities are both close to it and its a common meeting ground around those levels. I've looked at the map of xiv as best I could and can't find a very decent one but it seems like Ul dah is on the bottom where windurst was.

As much as i read about the info of FFXIV, i think the game will be mostly based around the Guildleves and i think they have their own camps and levels for the guildleves. not sure if different city-states will share the same camp in Guildleves, but they have that teleport crystal thing to port you around

But I thought you had to of visited the aerytherite crystal thing 1st to be able to teleport there or whatever? And also, if the guildleves are really that important then yeah it probably won't be an issue at all, but if they turn out to be less important than Square is making it out to be, then I am still curious if a city will be sectioned off a bit.

To my knowledge, there is currently no way to answer your question without someone breaking the NDA. Gonna have to wait it out.

none can answer your question even without the NDA. No one has seen or played in the other cities so as of now only on the 22nd you will find out. Even then its really up to the players and what area they like the best to party in.

Ah, I assumed that even though the beta players can't access more than one city that they might be able to see the whole world map. Again, no real way to confirm or deny this, but it was an assumption on my part.

Basically, the answer is still "wait and see." Either SE will offer more info before the CE is released, or they won't.

NO in the that one game "cough" you cannot see the world map just a city near the water and one of the fields and a vast cave system. The field is really really big.

Oh I wasn't thinking about all that I guess. i guess no one really does know. Kinda stinks as I'm debating between Uldah and girdania. Oh well guess I'll just choose based on what class guilds are in each city I suupose considering we probably won't know much about the surrounding areas of those 2 cities until the game is out.

From Windurst to Dunes, couldn't you just take the ship from Mhaura to Selbina?

I was about to say that Windurst had a connection to the dunes through those towns... They weren't detached at all...

You know, there use to be a time when people from Windurst partied in Tahrongi Canyon, Maze of Shakhrami, and Buburimu Peninsula. I once had a low-level static with people from my RP LS who leveled in those areas just because nobody at that level ever used them anymore. It was great having the whole zone pretty much to ourselves.

I think teleporting between the 3 main cities will be easy, just cost more the more you do it in a day or whatever. If my hubby is an Duskwright Pugilist and I'm a Dunesfolk botonaist (or whatever) I don't want to be torn apart at creation! I'm sure Square wants to encourage people to play with their friends WITHOUT isolating them from their classes guilds or deity's cities...

I didn't pay much atention but isn't Limsa in an island? If so and it does occour that most players will prefer a certain area closer to their towns then I would have to assume that Limsa will be the one that will have the harder time to get to the zone in question as the two other cities are in the same continent and should be able to get to each other a litle easier.

Yeah, my thinking would be along those lines; I'll be starting in Gridania due to its proximity to Ishgard and Ul'Dah. Limsa Lominsa is way off to the side.

Back in the day, people actually partied in Bubu. My 1st two jobs never even set foot in the dunes for that level range.
