I want to create a Lalafell and have my starting area in Gridania.. But I also want to be a Armorer, would it be wise to have my starting area in Limsa Lominsa since the Armorer Guild is there? or dose it really matter where you start?

It's a tough question for anyone to answer. No one really knows outside of Beta, and even they only know about Limsa Lominsa. The way SE has explained it, is that the only requisite to advance in any class is to have the required equipment in hand.
No one really knows how much of a roll the guilds will play in the actual progress of the classes. So, for now, just plan to go with what strikes your fancy until SE sees fit to explain that sort of thing to us.

I guessing guilds probably just hand out some class specific leves, and sell the equipment/tools you need, so you don't HAVE to go there to level, but I'm sure you'll want to once you can.

From all the implied stuff I read, I also think you can teleport between MAIN aether nodes right away at lv 1. It just costs "anima" or maybe gil I don't know; but basically the further and more often you teleport the more it costs. so going form major ciy to major city will be a bit limited, but easy.

I was wondering this exact same thing, Although im pretty sure we dont know where the Goldsmiths guild will be yet, it seems Gridania would be the less likely of the citys to be in, which is where i plan to start. :(

Hopefully there are just bonuses to having the guilds there and its not a requirement to be able to level them.

From the ffxiv web site says:

Limsa Lominsa:
Cooking
Fishing
Gun
Blacksmith
Armorers

Gridainan:
botanist
woodworker
lancers
Leather-worker
Alchemy? (from all the herbs from botanist?)

UL'DAH
cloth-craft
Alchemy? (City is full of gambling, Alchemy could be good to turn junk into gold)
Chocobo breading and racing? (gambling them)

Should help if your trying to pick a city and class for the beta giveaway questions.

I'm sure it'll be like FFXI where ya can creat wherever ya want, but to get any items/bonuses from crafting, gotta go to certain cities...

Brah, I was expecting the Goldsmithing guild to be in Ul'dah. A little disappointed.

Given the fact that Limsa Lominsa has so many guilds in it, I'm thinking that every starting city is going to have all of the guilds or at least most of them.

Hard to say what's going to be in each city. I don't even think it has been explained as far as how the gods come into play yet.
