My first character would be an Duskwight Elezen Botanist. Mainly because botany is a great way to spend your time outside of endless battles and because you'll have a lot of people come to you for help as well as able to make your own equipment because cotton for example will no doubt be a big ingredient in many cloth fabric armors which you can supply to weavers (or if you weave yourself.)

City-State would definitely be Gridania for the said reason. Since my main interest is Botany currently it seems like between Limsa and Gridania the latter would be best suited for the Botanist guild.

I will be starting out as a Hyur Pugilist in Gridania.

I have always played human races if possible, but I have normally gone as a caster, which is why I decided to try something new with a melee character this time. As far as Gridania, I simply love the concept art that I have seen so far!

My first character

Class : Conjurer

Race : Lalafell

Starting City: Gridania

I chose the Lalafell for my race because Ive always loved the little people in most games. I have always been very short/intellectual for my age, and because of that i feel i can bond Very well with my character. For the class i will be going with is the Conjurer. I have always loved being helpful and supportive to my party members while also pumping out damage when needed, i feel the conjurer will fit that role perfectly. For my Starting city i went with Gridania mostly because I have always loved nature and wildlife, but being in a city surrounded by a dense forest gives me this indescribable feeling.

Miqo'te ~ Seekers of the Sun
Gladiator & Fisher & Culinarian
Gridania

Cause they're Miqo'te of course, their fluffy tails are even more mesmerizing to watch swaying to n' fro, than their Mithra counterpart...hehe!

My Character:
Lalafel plainsfolk who is handy in the discipline of Hand/Land

My starting city:
Gridania due to the forst nature of it.

Why:
I'm always a little guy in MMO and have always been found of nature in general. I would really like to beta test the more domestic system of crafting, linkshell/companies, and player housing. These are just as important if not more so than combat because it is the basic structure of an online community. In fact I believe Eorzea is going to be built in the first 6 months by the PC players.

I will definitely go for

Lancer all the way! / Armorer

Hyur Midlander!

Limsa Lominsa

Honestly I want to be a Lancer because I loved Freya in FF9. I'm excited to play FFXIV because of it's lush / beautiful fantasy world, and Limsa Lominsa seems like such an awesome setup and place to start!

What will your first character in Eorzea be? Lalafell - Dunesfolk male

and what nation-state will you start in? Why? Ul'dah, because to me it seems to be pretty technologically advanced, and the fact that it's located in like a desert/savannah type setting, also the dome shape design of the city is something I cant wait to glance at from the field outside.

I'm torn between being a Miqo'te or Lalafell as they're both my favorites, but I'm for sure going to be a Conjurer. I've always loved the classes with magic, and flashy lights.
My starting city will be Grinadia, the art on the official website is so breathtaking, I can't wait to set foot in there.

Depending on creativity, either a Wildwood Elezen from Gridania or Dunesfolk from Gridania. Class is really determined by the actual race I pick between the two, but Gridania just feels right to me. The woods just homogenizes that old world feel that these jobs bring, and the scenery should be beautiful, if even on the level of East and West Rounfare (which shouldn't be too hard, because even areas in FFXIII top them!).

I like the Wildwood for a couple reasons; Not too many people post about them, and if they say Elezen, usually the Duskwights are named. Also, now that they look anatomically correct compared to their FFXI counterparts, they should look real good in plate armor, something that means a lot to me in the long run. I like to be hands on, so usually melee feels right, especially tanking capabilities with taunts. I know Dunesfolk may be the most popular race in game if not Midlander, but they are just too darn cute! If I go that route, then he may become a pug and caster class for the cuteness effect.

Pugilist - I played mnk in FFXI and thought this would be most familiar to break me into Eorzea.

My first character will be a lalafell pugilist. My starting city will be Gardania.

Why: I love tarutaru. My taru in ffxi, was my third character and I didn't like them much at first, but it grew to become my favorite. I think lalafell are cute like the taru but have much nicer faces and features. Also their slightly taller bodies will make their armor detail look nicer. I like pugilist because it seems like a fun class. And I remember how Taru monks could do back flips. :) I hope for something similar for the lalafellas. I like the city of Gridania because it reminds me of windurst. It's very pretty and the most diverse looking of the three nations. To me Uldah and Limso both look alot like bastok with alot of stone work and castles like sandoria, but both cities kinda seem similar to me thus far, where as Gridania looks very different from the two of them which I find exciting :) I like being different.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in? Why?

I am going to be a Miqo'te Lancer or Archer starting in Ul'Dah. I want to be a Miqo'te because they look so cute and I was a Mithra in FFXI, so I just wanted to continue the trend. Lancer and Archer both appeal to me because they do a lot of damage and don't require me to worry about healing anyone! (In FFXI, or in most other MMORPGs in general, I always end up being the healer somehow. O_o I wanna break away from strictly being a support-type character.)

I want to start in Ul'Dah because I like the idea of being in a huge, bustling city with lots of trade. We don't know too much about it yet, but it seems like it would be reminiscent of those staple "RPG Cities" in 3D RPGs; large in size, has many winding roads, paths, and alleyways, has amazing/impossible/beautiful architecture, and a LOT of people and exciting events going on. That appeals to me greatly, so I'd love to start out there!

Thank you very much!

I plan to be a Miqo'te...mainly because anything with a tail is super sweet + I <3 Cats!
I've never played a fem char in an MMORPG, but it happens.
I plan to start in Limsa as you can't go wrong with a Port City.

As for class I'm unsure still, however i might go Miner/Goldsmith at first and then choos a 'fight' class after a few days.

I'm going to be rolling an Elezen this time around, and I will begin my journey in Limsa-Lominsa. Now, Limsa-Lominsa not only captivated me with its appearance in screen shots, but it's back-story is also interesting. A city made from the ships of an old Armada, and connected across a span of tiny islands, which are home to a number of people from across the sea. It proves to become an interesting place to live in, once FFXIV goes live in September.

Lalafel Dunesfolk Male Gladiator. I was Taru in FFXI and my wife wants me and her to play Taru again. Will pick Gridania will be my starting city because it has that Windurst feel and it'll feel like nothing changed.

My first character in FFXIV will be a Hyur Lancer because I feel that Hyur will be able to do everything decently, and I think they'd make a pretty cool Lancer. A dragoon-like class has always been my favorite in any game I have played, and Polearms are probably the coolest weapons ever.

I will be starting in Gridania as I have always liked the forest maps and cities in all games. They just seem more peaceful.

1.) What will your first character in Eorzea be? It will either be a male Hyur or Lalafell. I'm leaning towards Hyur but I played a tarutaru in FFXI, and loved my character, so I'll experiment with both. Would be great to get in the beta to see how the character customization works!
2.) What nation-state will you start in? Why? The city of Ul'Dah is what appeals to me. I don't know why, but the desert town seems the most interesting. Will definatley start here!

I will be playing a Lalafell Conjurer from Limsa Lominsa. I will probably garden in my spare time since I like to grow things I am allergic to since sneezing adds some oomph to spellcasting.

How could I not play a Lalafell? And Limsa Lominsa is so musicy tarutaru sounding.

I want to play Hyur (Highlander) Marauder. My starting city will be Ul'dah. I want to RP a strong guy from the desert and the race/class seem to be appropriate. Ul'dah will be my city because it had Arabic flavor to it. Arabic lore has such wonderful characters as Sindbad and Alibaba; i want to RP my character as a mix of those two.

Limsa Lominsa will be my starting city, since it seems like it will be the most fun, what with being a pirate hub and all :)

I'll be a Midland Hyur Conjurer starting at Gridania.

My reason for being a midland Huyr is that I was an Elvan in FFXI so I don't want to be an elezen this time and I prefer to play as humanoid close to normal human in mmo. My reason for being a conjurer is that I'm always a tank so I wanted to try something different. Also, if possible I'd like to be something close to a red mage by mixing different classes skills so conjurer seem like the best way to start.

As for why I'm stating at Gridania, that's where the conjurer guild is suppose to be if I'm not mistaken.

My first character in FF XIV will be a Roegadyn Gladiator, Miner, Blacksmith/Armorer named Khronus ( I don't know how the armory works as I am not in BETA!!! lol). I will hail from the noble city of Limsa Lominsa because it works with the Lore behind my character and I love the idea of a sea-side city (I used to play Water Polo).

I will play the Gladiator because I have never played the "tank" but have always been the top dps. Knowing how crucial it is to have a viable tank, I have decided to put down my bow, dagger, staff to take on all 3 at the same time :). Plus I love being the go to tank for anyone needing someone to take a beating.

Miner for Das Money!!!!

Blacksmith for the finding loot not normally seen to the untrained eye....as well as the damage increase to metal foes.

Armorer for the repairs/money!!!

Roegydan Sea Wolves because "The Sea Wolves originally hail from the islands of the far north seas, where they still subsist as fishermen and women. Long ago, no vessel or coastal village was safe from their maritime brand of brutality. Now, it is not uncommon to see them employed as sailors or naval mercenaries on all manner of vessels"

Race: Hyur Female
Class: Fisherman
City: Limsa Lominsa

I'm choosing this because I pretty much fished exclusively in FFXI, and now with guildleves, fishing is going to be on a whole new level of fun. So obviously, I have to start in Limsa Lominsa because that is where the fishing guild is.

I am going to be a Miqo'te in xiv and starting in Gridania. In ffxi I was Maridon a taru and i was wondering how the Lalafell but I do not like the look of them in ffxiv. Overall in my opinion I think the Miqo'te look the best out of the all the races. The reason im going with Gridania is because it looks amazing. I love wooded looking areas and to have a city like that (kinda like Windy) would be eye candy for me.

What will your first character in Eorzea be and what nation-state will you start in?

I will be playing a Lancer Elezen Male, and most likely starting in Limsa Lominsa.

Why?

The reason for my character choice would be simply the continuation of my FFXI adventure. I played an Elvaan Male in FFXI, and I grew a strong bond with my character. My friends know my character name, and it's liked to the face and the character. To change that, after having a very happy experience in FFXI would be just silly of me. I'll be the same character, on a new adventure in a new world.

The reason for my city choice? It's most reminiscent of San d'Oria so far, and that's where I'm from!

I plan on being a male Lalafel conjuror from Gridania.

Why?

On FFXI, I played a Elvaan from Bastok, and would, for once, like to have a smaller (without monkey arms) character that looks good casting spells. I picked Gridania because of the quite pretty looking forests that the city is based in/around, which is quite an upgrade from Bastok's dusty and dry plains.

I plan on Gridania because i like the for areas, and because my ffxi char. is bastokan and limsa lominsa seems to close to bastok which i didnt really like (not that i don't like the way limsa lominsa looks because it actually looks pretty cool).
